You are invited to join the johnnyXpress egroup , the new unofficial bulletin board/email list for the St. John's College community.
The purpose of johnnyXpress is to enable members of the St. John's College community to get and/or share information with other johnnies as quickly as possible. Thus, you will be able to receive bulletin board announcements in your email as soon as they are posted. You will also be able to post announcements. If it works, it will fulfill & improve the function of this page and thus replace it. It is for announcements and brief queries.
Examples of appropriate announcements/queries to the JohnnyXpress:
Note: The johnnyXpress is strictly for announcements and brief queries--No rants, ruminations, metaphysical meanderings, or idle banter is allowed!* (*If you are up for any of the above, the Johnny List exists solely for this purpose: idle johnny conversation. There is also a spinoff of the Johnny List called the Johnny2 List. The Johnny2 list--for alumni only--is similar to the johnny list but is less rowdy because it is moderated and flamewars are not allowed. To find out more about johnny2, email Richard Green.
Back to the johnnyXpress:
All members of the St. John's College community are welcome to join johnnyXpress. To join, email johnnyXpress-subscribe@egroups.com or click on the link below. You will receive an email from me, the moderator, before getting approval.
Once you have joined the group, you can lurk (i.e. read messages) anonymously, but should identify yourself by name if you post a message, preferably with a brief description of your affiliation with the college, .g. "Johnny Doe, '88" or "Jane Doe, wife of Johnny Doe SF '88" or "John Smith, Tutor, Annap."
This list is hosted by eGroups (now owned by Yahoo). eGroups very conveniently lets you customize how you want to receive your johnnyXpress messages once you have joined. You can choose to:

For JohnnyXpress to become effective as a planet-wide johnny network/information-sharing resource, we need as many johnnies to join as possible. So please spread the word about this eGroup to every johnny whose email address you are in possession of. The more members, the more useful this egroup will become as a resource for johnnies. If you have any questions, email me at johnnyXpress-owner@egroups.com .
