ANNA MARY "ANNIE" BRUGLER McCAIN4
1008. ANNA MARY "ANNIE" BRUGLER5 (Susanna Moot Konkle4, Mary Read3, John Read2, Joseph Read1), was born 15 February 1850 in Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey and died 28 February 1946 (Cummins 1911; LDS Batch #C509751; Mt Hermon Merthodist Cemetery). In 1860, Anna lived at home with her parents in Blairstown Township and attended school (1860 United States Census, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 565). She was single in 1870 and lived with her widowed mother, her four brothers and her grandmother Konkle on the Brugler farm in Blairstown Township (1870 United States Federal Census, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 31 A -B, 5 July 1870). Annie married circa 1873, Lewis M. McCain, the son of Jeremiah and Amelia McCain. Lewis was born 10 August 1849 and died 19 March 1918 (Mt Hermon Methodist Cemetery). In 1880, Lewis and Annie lived with Lewis's parents on the McCain farm in Blairstown Township. Lewis's father was listed as "farmer" and Lewis was listed as "farm hand." Lewis's older sister, Mary E. McCain (age 36) also lived in the house. She and Annie were listed as doing "housework." Lewis and Annie did not have children in 1880 (1880 United States Federal Census, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, enumeration district 191, sheet 285A, 3 June 1880). By 1900, the McCains lived on a farm in Blairstown Township. Lewis's parents lived adjacent to the couple. Lewis was listed as a farmer, his father was listed as a landlord. Both Jeremiah and Lewis McCain owned their property. Lewis McCain's property was described as a farm, Jeremiah McCain's as a house. According to the census Anna was the parent of one child (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 189, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 9B, 19 June 1900). By 1910, Lewis and Anna had moved to Blairstown Township where they owned a farm on Mount Hermon Road. Anna's mother, Susanna Brugler lived with the family. Their son Lewis also lived at home (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 123, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 6B, 23 April 1910). In 1930, Anna lived at 589 Independence Street, Belvidere, Warren County. She lived in the same dwelling with her brother Orison Brugler. Orison appears to have owned the house and to have been renting rooms, or apartments. Anna rented one area, paying $11 per month in rent. Gershom Parr (age 76) and Josephine (age 69), his wife of 50 years, also rented quarters in the dwelling. The census lists Anna as an 80 year old widow with no employment (1930 United States Federal Census, Town of Belvidere, Warren County, New Jersey, enumeration district 21-3, sheet 20B, 23 April 1930). Anna died in 1946 and was buried with Lewis in the Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Yard (also known as Green's Chapel), Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey. Their graves were visited on 24 March 2004. The inscription is as follows:

Lewis married circa 1902, his wife was probably Sadie (Last Name Unknown). She was born circa 1885 in New Jersey.
