1245. RICHMOND or RICHARD MARTIN6 (Jerry E. Martin5, Benjamin F. Martin4, Lydia Read3, John Read2, Joseph Read1) was born July 1891 in New Jersey, probably in Stillwater Township, Sussex County and died 1938 (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 175, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 3A, 6 June 1900; Stillwater Cemetery). He appears on the 1900 census as a 9 year old boy named "Richmond". He lived with his parents, grandmother Martin, Aunt Anna Staley and numerous siblings on the family farm in Stillwater Township, Sussex County (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 175, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 3A, 6 June 1900). By 1910, "Richard," as he is named in the census, was working as a farm laborer for the family of Jacob L. Van Horn in Hampton Township, Sussex County. The Van Horns may have been cousins of some sort, as Richard's great-grandmother was Hannah Van Horn Pittenger (Richman 1911:585). He also boarded with the Van Horn family in 1910 (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 172, Hampton Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 5A, 27 & 28 April 1910). Richard married circa 1916, Bessie E. Wilgus. She was born 1894 in Pennsylvania (Stillwater Cemetery). He appears on the 1920 census as "Richard S. Martin." He and Bessie lived with their daughter Hazel in Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey on a dairy farm owned by Richard's father Jerry Martin. They rented the house and Richard ran the farm with his father (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 141, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 1B, 5 January 1920). By 1930, Jerry Martin had retired and moved to Fredon, New Jersey. "Richard R. Martin" as given on the census, lived with Bessie and Hazel in a rented house in Stillwater township, they paid $13 a month in rent. Richard was employed as a laborer on road sections (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 19-26, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 3A, 7 April 1930). Bessie died in 1932, Richard died six years later. They are buried in Stillwater Cemetery, Stillwater, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey. Richard's name is given as "Richard S. Martin" on his grave stone.

Richmond and Bessie Martin had 1 child. Total identified descendants equals 1.

1508. (i.) HAZEL E. MARTIN7, was born circa 1919 in New Jersey, possibly in Stillwater, Sussex County and died unknown. She lived with her parents on her grandfather Martin's dairy farm in 1920. The farm was located in Stillwater Township (1920 United States Federal Census, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, Enumeration District 141, sheet 1B, 5 January 1920). By 1930, her grandfather had retired and moved to Fredon, New Jersey. Hazel lived with her parents in Stillwater Township and attended school (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 19-26, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 3A, 7 April 1930).
