JOHN M. RAUB4
139. JOHN M. RAUB4 (Mary Raub3, Isaac Read, Sr.2, Joseph Read1)
was born 9 May 1825, probably in Warren County, New Jersey and died 1886. He married by 1848, Elizabeth E. Vought (or Vough), the daughter of John Vought and Anna Mary Newbaker. Elizabeth was born 5 December 1825 and died 12 August 1881. The "In Memoriam" section of the program for the 105TH anniversary of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Blairstown lists an Elizabeth Raub, died 1887, as a former member of the church (Anon 1916). It is possible that this is the Elizabeth Vought Raub of this essay. Either the cemetery transcription I consulted is incorrect, or the program is incorrect. Elizabeth's brother, Jacob Vought, married John's sister, Mary Caroline Raub. In 1880, John and Elizabeth lived in Blairstown Township. John was a farmer. He was aided on the farm by his son Isaac and by a hired hand named George Shaver (age 18). Elizabeth kept house with the aid of her daughter Rebecca (1880 United States Federal Census, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 286A, 7 June 1880). John and Elizabeth are buried in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Jacksonburg, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey.| . |
