1611. VIDA ADELAIDE KINNEY,5(Frederick Marshall Kinney 4, Catherine Read Kinney3, Aaron Read2, Joseph Read1)
was born 31 December 1890 in Lathrop Township, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania and died 24 May 1986, in Palo Alto, California (Scott-Fritzen 1998). Vida resided with her widowed father in 1910. She was the only one of the five Kinney children still living at home. Fred Kinney owned a farm in Lathrop Township (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 78 Lathrop Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, sheet 5B, 2 May 1910). Vida married Rev. Wade Hampton Barnes on 15 May 1915. Wade was the son of William Barnes and Lydia Wade (Scott-Fritzen 1998). He was born circa 1880 in Pennsylvania. Vida was his second wife. In 1920, Wade and Vida lived with Wades's three children by his first marriage on a farm in Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. The children were: Vincent W. (age 12), Rolla C. (age 10) and Lucille W. (age 5). Wade had not yet been ordained as a minister in 1920. He was still employed as a farmer (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 64, Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, sheet 4B, 16 May 1920). By 1923, the family had moved to Johnson City, Broome County, New York. Wade and Vida's daughter, Kathrine was born there in February of that year. The family remained in New York until at least 1924, when their daughter Ruth was born in Endicott. They had moved to California by September 1926 when their son David was born. By 1930, Wade was an ordained Presbyterian minister. The family lived at 1728 Grant Avenue in Fresno, Fresno County, California. Wade's daughter Lucille, by his first marriage and his three children by Vida (Katherine, Ruth and David) all lived in the household (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 10-33, Fresno City, Judical Township 3, Fresno County, California, sheet 5A, 1 May 1930). Wade's two sons by his first marriage were living in Boston, Massachusetts in 1930. Vincent was single and Rolla was married. The two brothers and Rolla's wife Eleanor Barnes boarded with the Doran family at 39 Columbus Square. Vincent was employed in an automobile salesroom. Rolla was a student and worked as a saleman in a department store. His wife Eleanor was a social worker (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 19-124, Boston City, Ward 4, Block 9, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, sheet 18B, 14 April 1930).Vida Kinney and Wade Barnes had three children born between 1914 and 1929. They had 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Total identified descendants equals 25.

(i.) VINCENT W. BARNES6, was born circa 1907 in Pennsylvania and died unknown. In 1920, he lived with his father and step-mother on the family's farm in Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania and attended school (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 64 Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, sheet 4B, 16 May 1920). By 1923, the family had moved to Johnson City, Broome County, New York, Vincent's half-sister Katherine was born there in February 1923. His father remained in New York until at least 1924. Sometime between 1925 and 1926, Wade Barnes moved at least part of his family to Fresno California (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 10-33, Fresno City, Judical Township 3, Fresno County, California, sheet 5A, 1 May 1930). Vincent was 18 years old in 1925. It is possible that he remained behind on the east coast. In 1930, Vincent and his brother Rolla and Rolla's wife Eleanor all lived at 39 Columbus Square in Boston, Massachusetts. The three Barnes were boarding in a boarding house run by Edward and Alice Doran. The Doran's had 12 boarders in the house, as well as their own two children, 7 year old Irene and 5 year old Edward. Vincent Barnes was single in 1930. He was employed in an automobile salesroom (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 19-124, Boston City, Ward 4, Block 9, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, sheet 18B, 14 April 1930).
(ii.) ROLLA C. BARNES6, was born circa 1909 in Pennsylvania and died unknown. In 1920, he lived with his father and step-mother on the family's farm in Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania and attended school (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 64 Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, sheet 4B, 16 May 1920). By 1922, the family had moved to Johnson City, Broome County, New York, Rolla's half-sister Katherine was born there in February 1923. His father remained in New York until at least 1924. Sometime between 1925 and 1926, Wade Barnes moved at least part of his family to Fresno California (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 10-33, Fresno City, Judical Township 3, Fresno County, California, sheet 5A, 1 May 1930). Rolla was about 16 years old in 1925. Whether he went to California with his father is unknown. Rolla married circa 1930, Eleanor K. (Last Name Unknown). She was born circa 1907 in Massachusetts. In 1930, Rolla and Eleanor lived at 39 Columbus Square in Boston, Massachusetts. They were boarding in a boarding house run by Edward and Alice Doran. One of the other other 12 boarders living in the Doran's house was Rolla's older brother Vincent. Eleanor Barnes was employed as a social worker. Rolla Barnes was attending school in 1930. He also worked as a salesman in a department store. (iii.) LUCILLE W.BARNES6, was born circa 1914 in Pennsylvania and died unknown. In 1920, she lived with her father and step-mother on the family's farm in Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania and attended school (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 64 Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, sheet 4B, 16 May 1920). By February 1923, when Lucille's half sister Katherine was born, the family had moved to Johnson City, Broome County New York. Their father remained in New York until at least 1924. Sometime between 1925 and 1926, Wade Barnes moved his family to Fresno California. The family was in California in September 1926, when Lucille's half-brother David was born. In 1930, Lucille lived with her father, step-mother and three younger half-siblings at 1728 Grant Avenue in Fresno. She was 16 years old and was still attending school (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 10-33, Fresno City, Judical Township 3, Fresno County, California, sheet 5A, 1 May 1930).
