ESTELLA RUBY KINNEY MACK5

1612. ESTELLA RUBY KINNEY,5 (Samuel A. Kinney4, Catherine Read Kinney3, Aaron Read2, Joseph Read1) was born 18 July 1875 and died 1954 (Scott-Fritzen 1998; Williams n.d.). In 1880 she lived with her parents in Springville, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. The census gives her name as "Stella R. Kinney" (1880 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 138, Springville Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, page 418C, 19 & 20 June 1880). She married on 10 November 1892, Andrew Grant Mack, the son of Edwin Palmer Mack (23 June 1829 - 11 February 1908) and Sarah Quick (born 14 September 1836). Andrew was born 13 October 1869 in Pennsylvania. Scott-Fritzen (1998) gives the year of his birth as 1862. However, according to the 1900 census, Andrew's brother Anthony Mack was born in April 1862 and Andrew was born in October 1869 (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 78, Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, sheet 3A, 6 June 1900). Andrew Mack died in 1932 (Williams n.d.). He grew up in Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County. His father Edwin Mack was a cabinet maker. In 1880, Andrew lived with his parents and his brothers Anthony (age 18) and Emmet (age 7). His grandmother Lydia Quick (age 68) also lived with the family. Lydia Quick and her daughter Sarah Quick Mack (age 44) were both born in New Jersey. Edwin Mack was born Pennsylvania, but his parents were from Connecticut. The Macks lived in dwelling 34 in 1880. Stella's Uncle Fred Kinney lived in dwelling 46 and her Uncle David I. Kinney lived in dwelling 47 (1880 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 118, Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, pages 67 C-D & 68A, 2 & 3 June 1880).

Edwin and Stella were married in November 1892. Their first child, son Edwin, arrived in January 1894. Their son Harry was born in September 1897. In 1900, Andrew, Anthony and Edwin Mack all lived in close proximity to one ahother. Edwin and Sarah lived in dwelling 54. The widow Elenore Kent lived with them. She was 90 years old (born in January 1810). She may have been Edwin's sister. Like Edwin, she was born in Pennsylvania, but both of her parents were born in Connecticut. Andrew and Stella Mack lived with their two sons in dwelling 55. Anthony Mack and his wife Mary and son William lived in dwelling 56. No occupation is listed in the 1900 census for either Edwin or Andrew. Anthony Mack was an undertaker. Edwin and Andrew were probably farmers. The census indicates that Edwin and Anthony lived on farms. Andrew's property was described as a home and not a farm. All three of the Mack families owned their property free and clear of mortgages 1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 78, Brooklyn Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, sheet 3A, 6 June 1900).

In 1910, Edwin and Stella Mack no longer owned their farm but were renting a farm in Bridgewater Township, Susquehanna County. Another child, daughter Louise, had been born in 1902. Their three children—Edwin, Harry and Louise— lived with them. Andrew was a farmer and his son Edwin worked on the farm with him. All three Mack children attended school. Stella was also employed in 1910, as a laundress in her home. (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 60, Bridgewater Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, sheet 8B, 14 May 1910). By 1930, all of the Mack children had grown and moved out of the house. Stella and Andrew lived in a rented house in Lennox Township, Susquehanna County. Andrew was no longer working as a farmer, indeed the couple no longer lived on a farm. Instead, Andrew Mack worked as a laborer in a general gas station. The couple had been married 47 years when the 1930 census was enumerated (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 68-29, Lennox Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, sheet 6A, 29 April 1930). Andrew died two years later in 1932. Stella lived until 1932. They are buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Brooklyn, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania (Williams n.d.). Children of Estella Kinney and Andrew Mack:

Stella Kinney and Andrew Mack were the parents of 3 children born between 1894 and 1902. They had at least 7 grandchildren who born between 1923 and 1945, 4 great-grandchildren, 9 second great-grandchildren and 5 third great-grandchildren. Total identified descendants equals 28.
