20. MARY READ3 (Isaac, Sr.2, Joseph1) was born 13 September 1796 in Knowlton Township, Sussex (now Warren) County, New Jersey; died 26 April 1863 in Warren County, New Jersey. She married MICHAEL RAUB Jr., on 24 November 1814. Michael was the son of Michael Raub, Sr. and Anna Kuhl, and the grandson of Andrew Raub and Maria Sharlotta Webber. He was born 12 February 1792 in Warren County, New Jersey; baptized 8 April 1792, First German and English Congregation of Knowlton, Sussex (now Warren) County, New Jersey (now Knowlton Presbyterian Church). Michael died 1 June 1869. Michael's first cousin, Isaac Freese, married Mary's sister (22) Hannah3. Michael and Mary are buried in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Jacksonburg, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey.

Mary Read and Michael Raub had 11 children born betweeen 1816 and 1840. They had at least 29 grandchildren who were born between 1843 and 1878. I have identified 33 great-grandchildren born between 1878 and 1916; 10, 2nd great-grandchildren born between 1902 and 1940; 3, 3rd great-grandchildren and 2, 4th great-grandchildren. Total identified descendants equals 88.

136. (ii.) ISAAC R. RAUB4, was born 19 August 1818, probably in Sussex (now Warren) County, New Jersey and died unknown, probably in Michigan. Isaac married first, 7 April 1841 in Warren County, New Jersey, Margaret Nyce. By 1858, he married as his second wife, Susan (Last Name Unknown). She died before 1876. On 1 March 1876, Isaac married as his third wife, Barbara Carty. They were married in Calhoun, Albion County, Michigan.

137. (iii.) LUTITA TAMAGE RAUB4, was born 5 October 1820, probably in Sussex (now Warren) County, New Jersey and died 19 April 1895, age 74 years, 6 months and 14 days. She married on 24 September 1853, Isaac N. Van Sickle in Warren County, New Jersey (Reuther n.d.). Isaac was born 3 May 1829 in New Jersey and died 10 June 1888, age 59 years, 1 month and 7 days. In 1880, Isaac and Lutita Van Sickle lived in Hope Township. Isaac was a farmer. They did not have any children of their own living with them. However, their 17 year old nephew, Michael Raub, was living with them. The census lists his occupation as "farm laborer" (1880 United States Census, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, Enumeration District 199, page 6 of Hope Township, page 415 left of the census). This young man was probably Michael Elmer Raub (born 1863), the son of Lutita's younger brother Erastus Vaughan Raub. They are buried in St. Johns of Hope Methodist Cemetery Church (also known as "Old Moravian"), Hope, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey.

138. (iv.) MARIA RAUB4, was born 8 December 1823, probably in Sussex (now Warren) County, New Jersey and died 19 December 1823, proably in Sussex (now Warren) County, New Jersey. Cause of death was Cholera Morbus (Reuther n.d.). Cholera Morbus is an "Acute gastroenteritis occurring in summer and autumn and marked by severe cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting" (American Heritage Dictionary). The term is no longer used by the medical profession. Maria probably died as a result of severe dehydration. She is buried in Knowlton Presbyterian Church Yard, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey (Reuther n.d.).

139. (v.) JOHN M. RAUB4, was born 9 May 1825, probably in Warren County, New Jersey and died 1886. He married by 1848, Elizabeth E. Vought, the daughter of John Vought and Anna Mary Newbaker. Elizabeth was born 5 December 1825 and died 12 August 1881. Elizabeth's brother, Jacob Vought, married John's sister, Mary Caroline Raub. John and Elizabeth are buried in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Jacksonburg, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey.

140. (vi.) MICHAEL NELSON RAUB4, was born 25 September 1827, probably in Warren County, New Jersey and died 24 February 1832, probably in Warren County, New Jersey. He is buried in Knowlton Presbyterian Church Yard, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey (Reuther n.d.).

141. (vii.) MARY CAROLINE RAUB4, was born 5 October 1829, probably in Warren County, New Jersey and died 27 February 1897 in Demock Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. She married first on 12 September 1848, Jacob N. Vough, (or Vought) the son of John Vough or Vought and Anna Mary Newbaker. Jacob's sister, Elizabeth Vought, married Mary Caroline's brother, John Raub. Jacob was born 5 August 1821 and died 1871 of consumption. Mary married second, in February 1873 in Springville, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, John L. Lake, as his second wife. John's first wife was Joanna Hay (15 April 1836-26 October 1870). John was the son of Abraham Lake and Susan Garrison and the brother of Rachel and Isaac G. Lake. Rachel Lake married Mary Caroline's brother, Ira K. Raub and Isaac G. Lake married Mary Caroline's sister, Margaret Hannah Raub. Mary Caroline and John Lake did not have children. Mary Caroline Raub Vough Lake is buried with Jacob Vough in Springville Cemetery, Springville Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.

142. (viii.) IRA K. RAUB4, was born 15 September 1831, in Warren County, New Jersey and died 21 July 1891 in Pennsylvania. He married Rachel Lake, daughter of Abraham Lake and Susan Garrison and sister of John L. Lake and Isaac G. Lake. John Lake married Ira's sister, Mary Caroline and Isaac Lake married Ira's sister Margaret Hannah. Ira and Rachel Raub are buried in the Springville Cemetery, Springville Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.

143. (ix.) ERASTUS VAUGHAN RAUB4, was born 28 March 1834, probably in Warren County, New Jersey and died 17 February 1917 in Portland, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. He married Macrina Linaberry Brands. Erastus is buried in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Jacksonburg, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey.

144. (x.) MARGARET HANNAH RAUB4, was born 17 August 1837, probably in Warren County, New Jersey and died 5 December 1926 in Montrose, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. She married Isaac G. Lake on 27 September 1856 in New Jersey. He was the son of Abraham Lake and Susan Garrison and the brother of John L. and Rachel Lake. John Lake married Margaret Hannah's sister, Mary Caroline Raub, and Rachel Lake married her brother, Ira K. Raub.

145. (xi.) CATHERINE RAUB4, was born 12 December 1840, probably in Warren County, New Jersey and died 22 September 1926, possibly in Vail, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey. She married William C. Brands of Blairstown, New Jersey. He was born in 1835 and died in 1922.

141. MARY CAROLINE RAUB4 (Mary Read,3, Isaac, Sr.2, Joseph1), was born 5 October 1829, in Warren County, New Jersey and died 27 February 1898 in Demock Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. She married first, on 12 September 1848 Jacob N. Vough, (or Jacob Vought) of Hardwick. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. John A. Reiley, pastor of the Blairstown and Knowlton Presbyterian Churches (1845-1854). The ceremony took place in Blairstown (Snell 1881; Warren Journal 1848). Jacob was the son of John Vought and Anna Mary Newbaker. Jacob's sister, Elizabeth Vought, married Mary Caroline's brother, John Raub. Jacob was born 5 August 1821 in Warren County, New Jersey and died 15 April 1871 in Susquehanna Township, Pennsylvania. Mary married second, in February 1873 in Springville, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, John L. Lake, as his second wife. John's first wife was Joanna Hay (15 April 1836-26 October 1870). He was born 20 September 1820 and died 4 July 1903. John was the son of Abraham Lake and Susan Garrison and the brother of Rachel and Isaac G. Lake. Rachel Lake married Mary Caroline's brother, Ira K. Raub and Isaac G. Lake married Mary Caroline's sister, Margaret Hannah Raub. Mary Caroline and John Lake did not have children. Mary Caroline Raub Vought Lake is buried with Jacob in Springville Cemetery, Springville Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. John Lake is buried with Joanna in Jersey Hill Cemetery, Auburn Township, Susquehanna Township, Pennsylvania.

Rachel Lake was born 13 March 1827 in Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey and died on 26 November 1920 in Tunkhannock, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. ERASTUS VAUGHN RAUB4

143. ERASTUS VAUGHN RAUB4 (Mary Read,3, Isaac, Sr.2, Joseph1), was born 28 March 1834, probably in Warren County, New Jersey and died 17 February 1917 in Portland, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, of carcinoma of the stomach and liver. He married on 13 November 1858, Macrina Linaberry Brands, in Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey. She was the daughter of David B. Brands and Anna Linaberry. Her brother, William Brands, married Erastus's sister, Catherine Raub. Macrina was born 3 July 1838 and died 22 May 1926. The 1900 and 1910 census place Erastus and Macrina Raub on a farm on the Vail Road in Blairstown Township, Warren County. They owned their farm free and clear of any liens and mortgages. According to both census years, they were the parents of 8 children. Seven of these children were living in 1900. In 1900, only their daughter Lizzie still lived at home. The family had a boarder in 1900, he was James Blackford (born September 1882 in New Jersey). James was employed as a farm laborer (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 189, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 6A, 11 June 1900; 1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 123, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 4A, lines 17 and 18, 19 April 1910). Macrina Raub was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church in Blairstown in 1916 (Burd 1916). After Erastus's death in 1917, Macrina lived alone on their farm. In 1920, she was listed in the census as an 81 year old widow. Marina owned the fam free and clear of all mortgages (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 151, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 8B, 30 January 1920). She died in 1926 and was buried with Erastus in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Jacksonburg, Warren County, New Jersey.

Daniel married second, on 3 February 1892, Lydia Caroline Schilling, the daughter of Edwin Schilling and Caroline Kraus. Lydia was born 18 January 1869, in Newark, New Jersey and died 26 November 1948, in New Jersey. Daniel and Lydia resided in Newark, New Jersey in 1917 and Maplewood, Essex County, New Jersey in 1931. He married in 1889, Fannie Divers. In 1900, the couple lived in Blairstown Township. They owned their house free and clear of leins or mortgages. Michael was ran a general store. Vincent F. Titman (born June 1884) boarded with the family and worked as clerk, probably in Michel's store. Elba H. Titman (born September 1881) boarded with the family and was employed as a domestic servant (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 189, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 11A, 22 June 1900). Michael and Fannie resided in East Stroudsburg, Monroe County, Pennsylvania between at least 1917 and 1934. Michael is buried in Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania (Reuther n.d.).

499. (iv.) ANNA BELL "BELL" RAUB5, was born 2 January 1866 in Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey (LDS Batch #C509771; Reuther n.d.) and died 14 January 1900. She married David H. Green. Bell Raub Green is buried in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Jacksonburg, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey.

500. (v.) SARAH JOHNSON "SALLIE" RAUB5, was born 26 July 1868 in Warren County, New Jersey. She committed suicide on 25 April 1931 while living with her son Frank in Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey. Sallie married Everitt Dean, son of David and Catherine (Parr) Dean. He was born 26 August 1863 near Mt. Hermon, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey and died 21 May 1928 in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, of complications following an operation. In 1930, Sarah lived with her son Arthur and his family in Delaware, Warren County, New Jersey (1930 Federal Census, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey, enumeration district 21-13, sheet 2A, April 4&5, 1930). By 1931, she had moved in with her son Frank, and his wife and baby son, in Trenton. Sarah died there in April of 1931. Sarah and Everitt are buried in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Jacksonburg, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey. Children of Sallie and Everitt Dean:

1125. (a.) ARTHUR V. DEAN6, was born 1892 in New Jersey, he committed suicide in 1945. He married, circa 1920, Henrietta (Last Name Unknown). She was born circa 1894 in Holland and arrived in the United States in 1912. In 1930, Arthur and Henrietta resided in Delaware, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey. The family owned a radio. According to the census, Arthur was a veteran. Given his age, he probaably served in World War I. Arthur owned a "country store" (1930 Federal Census, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey, enumeration district 21-13, sheet 2A, April 4&5, 1930). He also sold gasoline and coal; as well as holding the county school bus contract (Allen 2001). The family was still living in Delaware in 1935, when Arthur's brother died. Children of Arthur Dean:

503. (viii.) ELIZABETH LETITIA "LIZZIE" RAUB5, was born 24 December 1878 and died 10 March 1964. Lizzie lived at home with her parents in 1900. She was employed as a school teacher (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 189, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 10B, 21 June 1900). She married circa 1904, Milton W. Mott. He was born circa 1875. In 1910, Milton and Lizzie Mott lived in Blairstown, Blairstown Township, Warren County. Milton owned a retail store in Blairstown. The couple owned their home free and clear of any liens or mortgages. They appear to have been renting parts of their home to other familes. Their dwelling was listed as number 100, the Motts were family 107. There were two other families in the same dwelling. Family 108 was Lewis and Sarah Morrison and their daughter Lola Dorman and her husband Franklin. Family 109 was Saul Sharper and his wife Phoebe. According to the census the Motts had been married 6 years and did not have any children (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 123, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 5B, lines 78 through 85, 21 April 1910). In 1916, they were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Walnut Valley, Blairstown Township (Burd 1916). They resided in Vail, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey between 1917 and 1931. Milton and Lizzie are buried in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Jacksonburg, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey (Reuther n.d.). Children of Lizzie Raub and Milton Mott:

MARGARET HANNAH RAUB4

144. MARGARET HANNAH RAUB4, was born 19 August 1837, probably in Warren County, New Jersey and died 5 December 1926 in Pennsylvania. She married Isaac G. Lake on 27 September 1856 in New Jersey. Isaac was the son of Abraham Lake and Susan Garrison and the brother of John L. and Rachel Lake. John Lake married Margaret Hannah's sister, Mary Caroline and Rachel Lake married Margaret Hannah's brother, Ira K. Raub. Isaac was born 1 May 1834 in Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey. He died 24 June 1882 in Bridgewater Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, as the result of a head injury from a kick by a horse. They are buried in South Montrose Cemetery, South Montrose, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.

He marrried, on 17 December 1884, Mary Isabelle Conklin, daughter of Perry C. and M. Jennie Conklin at her parents home in South Monrose, Pennsylvania. Isabelle was born 22 June 1863 in Dimock Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania and died 8 August 1946. Michael and Isabelle Lake are buried in South Montrose Cemetery, South Montrose, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. Children of Michael and Isabelle Lake:

1133. (d.) BESSIE E. LAKE6, was born 7 February 1891 in South Montrose, Pennsylvania and died 27 october 1970 in St. Cloud, Florida. She married on 4 March 1914, Guy Barrett Robinson. He was born 14 September 1890 and died 4 April 1968. They are buried in South Montrose Cemetery, South Montrose, Pennsylvania.

1134. (e.) RALPH S. LAKE6, was born 18 May 1893, South Montrose, Pennsylvania and died 19 November 1972, in Binghamton General Hospital, Binghampton, Broome County, New York. He married Ruth Stone Tuttle. She was born 22 August 1896 in Springville, Pennsylvania and died 14 June 1989 in South Montrose, Pennsylvania. They are buried in South Montrose Cemetery, South Montrose, Pennsylvania.

Chase in Bridgewater Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. She was born February 1864 in Pennsylvania and died 18 January 1927. 506. (iii.) LODUSKA E. "LODA" LAKE5, was born 3 September 1861 and died 3 February 1951. She married on 14 February 1883, Charles J. Allen. He was born 1855 and died 24 August 1923. They are buried in South Montrose Cemetery, South Montrose, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.

1138. (a.) GUY LAKE ALLEN6, was born 5 October 1887 and died 21 March 1967. He married on 1 January 1908, Lulu J. Stevens. She was born 29 September 1855 and died 1935. He married second, on 17 November 1937, Grace Tuttle, the daughter of Abither Tuttle and Phoebe Stone. Guy's last known residence was South Montrose, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania (Social Security death index).

507. (iv.) ALMEDA "MEDA" LAKE5, was born 11 November 1863 in Pennsylvania and died 21 July 1930. She married Clark E. Voss on 20 November 1884 in South Montrose, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. They are buried in Montrose Cemetery in Montrose, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.

CATHERINE RAUB4

145. CATHERINE RAUB4, was born 12 December 1840 probably in Warren County, New Jersey and died 22 September 1926, possibly in Vail, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey. She married on 1 January 1859, in Blairstown, New Jersey, William C. Brands, the son of Daniel B. Brands and Anna Linaberry. William's sister, Macrina Brands, married Catherine's brother, Erastus Raub. William was born 1 April 1835 and died 29 June 1922. Catherine and William lived in Blairstown Township in 1900. They owned their farm free and clear of mortgages. None of the couple's children lived at home. Amos Parr boarded with the family and worked as a farm laborer. He was born August 1886 in New Jersey. Catherine and William were members of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Blairstown in 1916 (Burd 1916). They are buried in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Jacksonburg, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey.

In the summer of 1880, Mary lived with her parents and her sister and brother on the family farm in Blairstown Township (1880 United States Federal Census, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 288C, 8 June 1880). She marrried later that year, on 28 December 1880, Nelson P. Kishpaugh, the son of Conrad Kishpaugh and Mary Wintermute. Nelson was born 23 October 1855 and died 1901 of diabetis. In 1880, Nelson lived with his widowed mother on the family farm in Blairstown Township. Nelson was 24 years old and was the oldest son living in the household. He was employed as a farm hand. His brothers Elmer (age 22) and John (age 10) also worked on the farm as farm hands. Nelson's sister Lucinda (age 31) also lived at home and did house work with her mother (1880 United States Federal Census, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, Enumeration District 191, page 281D, 3 June 1880). In 1900, Nelson and Mary lived in Blairstown township. Nelson was a farmer. The couple's only child, Clark, still lived as home and attended school. Nelson and Mary owned their farm free and clear of any mortgages or liens (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 189, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 9B, 19 June 1900). Nelson and Mary are buried in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Jacksonburg, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey. Child of Mary C. Brands and Nelson Kispaugh:

2480.. (iv.) ROSA D. BRANDS5, was born circa 1870 in New Jersey and probably died before 1900. In 1880, she lived with her parents on their farm in Blairstown Township and attended school (1880 United States Federal Census, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 288C, 8 June 1880). The 1900 census indicates that William and Catherine Brands were the parents of 4 children and that only one of their children was living in 1900 (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 189, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 8B, 16 June 1900).
