DAVID R. KONKLE FAMILY ALBUM
David R. Konkle was born March 1827, probably in Hardwick Township, Warren County, New Jersey and died between 1900 and 1910. He was the son of John B. Konkle and Mary Read. During the Civil War, David served in the 31st New Jersey Volunteer Infantry, Co. G. and later enlisted in the 37th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry, Co. G. He married Elcy J. Savercool, the daughter of Isaac Savercool, on 25 October 1851. She was born 9 February 1833 and died 24 April 1901. Elcy is buried with her daughter Alice May Konkle in Stillwater Cemetery on the south edge of the village of Stillwater, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey. It is assumed that David is also buried in the family plot as a G.A.R. flag marks the grave. There is however no inscription for David on the monument. See below for close-up of Elcy's inscription. Both photographs were taken 14 April 2005 by Esther Doyle Read. (Click on the photographs and use the icons to enlarge them to full size).
