2279. MARY E. "Mamie" MARTIN6 (Jerry E. Martin5, Benjamin F. Martin4, Lydia Read3, John Read2, Joseph Read1) was born 20 September 1896 in New Jersey, probably in Stillwater Township, Sussex County and died 7 September 1987 (Klaus 2002, 2004; Social Security Death Index, gives the date of birth as 16 September and date of death as 15 September, index spells her name as Mame). She appears on the 1900 census as a 2 year old child living with her parents, Grandmother Martin, Aunt Anna Staley and numerous siblings on the family farm in Stillwater Township, Sussex County (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 175, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 3A, 6 June 1900). In 1910, she still lived with her parents in Stillwater Township and attended school (1910 United States Federal census, Enumeration District 184, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 8A, 4 May 1910). Mamie married circa 1915, Harlan Bailey Yetter, the son of Lydia Bailey Yetter. The Martin and Bailey farms were listed in close promitiy on the 1900 census, the Martin family resided in dwelling 53 and the Yetters were in dwelling 67. Harlan was 13 years old in 1900 and he lived with his widowed mother and widowed grandmother (Mary Bailey). Harlan was born 8 February 1887 and died April 1967 (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 175, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 3B, 8 June 1900; Klaus 2004; Social Security Death Index; Klaus gives his year of birth as 1886). In 1920, Mamie and Harlan lived with their son Clifford in a rented house in Stillwater Township. Harlan worked as a laborer in the creamery. Clifford was not quite 3 years old and Mamie was expecting son Walter at the time of the census—he was born three days after the household was enumerated (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 141, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 2B, 9 January 1920; Social Security Death Index). The family still lived in Stillwater Township in 1930. They rented their home for $10 a month. Harlan was employed as a laborer doing general farm work, he worked for other people for wages. However, the family did live on a farm (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 19-26, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 5A, 9 April 1930). Harlan resided in Sussex, Sussex County, New Jersey at the time of his death (Social Scurity Death Index).
Mamie Martin and Harlan Yetter had 5 children and at least one granchild. Total identified descendants equals 6.
3296. (i.) CLIFFORD B. YETTER7, was born 19 March 1917 in New Jersey, probably in Stillwater Township, Sussex County and died 30 May 2002 (Klaus 2004). He lived with his parents in 1920 in a rented house in Stillwater Township. The census gave his age as 2 years and nine months (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 141, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 2B, 9 January 1920). The family still lived in Stillwater Township in 1930, Clifford lived at home and attended school (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 19-26, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 5A, 9 April 1930). Clifford resided in Newton, Sussex County, New Jersey at the time of his death in 2002 (Social Security Death Index).
3297. (ii.) WALTER J. "Walt" YETTER7, was born 12 April 1920 in New Jersey, probably in Stillwater Township, Sussex County and died 7 August 1998 (Klaus 2004, gives his date of birth as 1921; Social Security Death Index). Klaus places him as the third child in order of birth, but the 1930 census places him as second (between Clifford and Laura). In 1930, Walt lived with his parents in Stillwater and attended school. The census gives his age as 9 (it was taken three days before his tenth birthday) (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 19-26, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 5A, 9 April 1930). Walter resided in Sussex, Sussex County, New Jersey at the time of his death in 1998 (Social Security Death Index).
3298. (iii.) LAURA YETTER7, was born 5 April 1924 in New Jersey, probably in Stillwater Township, Sussex County and died 17 February 1981 (Social Security Death Index). Klaus gives her year of birth as 1920 and places her before Walter in the order of birth. The 1930 census places her after Walter in the order of birth and gives her year of birth as 1924. She lived with her parents and siblings in Stillwater Township in 1930 and attended school (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 19-26, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 5A, 9 April 1930; Klaus 2004). Laura married William Shepherd (Klaus 2004, 2005). She resided in Sussex, Sussex County, New Jersey at the time of her death in 1981 (Social Security Death Index).

ETTA MAY YETTER7, was born 26 March 1929 in New Jersey, probably in Stillwater Township, Sussex County and died 30 December 1998 (Klaus 2004, Social Security Death Index, gives day of death as 1 December). She appears on the 1930 census as a 13 month old child living in Stillwater Township with her parents and older siblings (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 19-26, Stillwater Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, sheet 5A, 9 April 1930; Klaus 2004). Etta married Lemuel Klaus (Klaus 2002, 2004, 2005). She resided in Sussex, Sussex County, New Jersey at the time of her death in 1998 (Social Security Death Index). Child of Etta Yetter Klaus:
