Joseph married on 14 June 1910 in Phelps County, Missouri, Lola G. Spalding. She was born 17 September 1896 in Phelps County, Missouri and died November 1968 in St. Louis, Missouri (LDS AFN:C2LN-NK; Social Security Death Index). The family lived in Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri from at least 1920 until the 1960s. In 1920, Joseph and Lola lived on State Street with their three sons. They owned their home but it was mortgaged. Joseph was employed as an assistant foreman in a printing office (1920 United States Federal Census, Rolla City, Ward 1, Phelps county, Missouri, enumeration district 75, sheet 7B, 17 January 1920). The family moved to 710 West 12th Street by 1930. The family owned this home. And they also owned a radio. Joseph had also been promoted to Foreman at the printing office (1930 United States Federal Census, Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri, enumeration district 81-10, sheet 29A, 28 April 1930). According to the Social Security Death Index Joseph was vicinity of Rolla/Doolittle, Phelps County, Missouri at the time of his death in 1966. His wife, Lola moved to St. Louis after his death. She died there in 1968 (Social Security Death Index).

He was still living at home in 1930. The family had moved to 710 West 12th Street in Rolla. By that time he was finished with his schooling and was working as a trimmer in a shirt factory (1930 United States Federal Census, Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri, enumeration district 81-10, sheet 29A, 28 April 1930).

By 1930, the family had moved to 710 West 12th Street in Rolla. By 1930, the family had moved to 710 West 12th Street in Rolla.
