MABEL MARGARET AYERS5
2441 .MABEL MARGARET AYERS5 (Jacob Cummins Ayers4, Robert Ayers3) was born 19 August 1892 near Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri and died 13 May 1956 in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois (LDS AFN:33T8-CW). She married in Coweta, Wagoner County, Oklahoma, on 14 October 1911, Oliver Arthur Smith, the son of Rebecca Taylor Smith. He was born 15 March 1881 in Claremore Ridge, Rogers County, Oklahoma and died 18 September 1932 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona (Davis and Davis 2002; LDS Film #458979, Film #459185 and Film #442377, reference #88962). The couple moved to Oregon after their wedding. They settled in Brandon, Coos County, Oregon by 1912. Their daughters were both born in Oregon. By 1930, Oliver and Mabel had moved to Del Ray, Maricopa County, Arizona. They lived at 190 Vila Avenue. Oliver was not working, but Mabel was employed as a domestic servant in a private home (1930 United States Federal Census, Del Ray, Maricopa County, Arizona, enumeration district 59). Oliver died two years later in Phoenix. Mabel eventually moved back to the mid-west. She died in Springfield, Illinois on 13 May 1956 and was buried in Edinburg, Christian County, Illinois (LDS AFN:33T8-CW). Her brother Jesse Ayers and her half-brother Robert Ayers both ived in Christian County in 1930. Robert lived in Edinburg and Jesse lived on a farm in South Fork Township. It is probable that Mabel moved to Illinois after Oliver's death in order to be close to her family. She died in Springfield in 1956.
