READ FAMILY CONNECTIONS
SNOVER FAMILY ALBUM
Lydia Jane Read was the eldest child of David Read and Mary Hawk. She was born 7 April 1838 in New Jersey, baptised 24 December 1838 at Stillwater Presbyterian Church, Stillwater, Sussex County, New Jersey and died 23 March 1911. She married circa 1867, Thamer Snover. He was born 17 February 1834 and died 25 March 1904. They are buried in the Snover family plot in Stillwater Cemetery in the village of Stillwater. The photograph to the left is of the Snover plot. There are two stones on the plot. On the left is one for Lydia and Thamer and their sons—David and Frederick (and Frederick's wife Marie). The second stone is to the right of their stone and is for their son David and his wife Jeannette. There are footstones for each individual on the plot. In front of Lydia and Thamar's stones they are, from left to right: M.L.S. (Marie), F.W. (Frederick), Thamer Snover (Thamer with flag), and L.J.S. (Lydia). In front of David's stone they are D.R.S. (David) and J.F.H. (Jeannette) All photographs were taken by Esther Read on 14 April 2005.
Front of Thamer and Lydia (Read) Snover's stone is to the right, the reverse is below. Note that there is no inscription for David's wife, nor is his wife's name included on the stone. Return to Home Page
