IDA MAY SMITH ALBERTSON6
2644. IDA MAY SMITH6 (Lemic C. Smith5, Elizabeth Read4, Isaac Read, III3, John Read2, Joseph Read1) was born 20 May 1875 near Delaware, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey (LDS IGI) and died after 1930. She appears on the 1880 census as a five year old child living with her parents, her sister Alice, and baby brother Charles on the family farm in Knowlton Township (1880 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 201, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey, 14 June 1880, page 453D). Ida married circa 1896, Stewart S. Albertson, the son of Philip and Eliza Albertson. He was born circa 1868 in New Jersey and died after 1930. Stewart probably grew up in Knowlton Township. He and his parents lived there in 1870 (1870 United States Federal Census, Knowton Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 223, 11 June 1870). In 1910, Stewart and Ida Albertson owned a farm near Delaware in Knowlton Township. They had one child, their 12 year old son Charles. Ida's youngest sibling, 13 year old Earl Cecil Smith, lived with the family. Ida and Earl's mother had died in 1899 when Earl was two years old. Their father died about seven months before the 1910 census. Earl had been entrusted to his older sister's care after he was orphaned. Stewart Albertson was a general farmer. Both the boys were in school and Ida was busy keeping house (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 133, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 4B, 28 April 1910). The Albertson's neighbors in 1910 included several of Ida's cousins. Everitt and Sallie Dean were in dwelling 76 and the Albertsons were in dwelling 75. Sallie Dean was born (500) Sarah J. Raub5 (Erastus V. Raub4, Mary Read3, Isaac Read, Sr.2, Joseph Read1) and was Ida's third cousin once removed. A few farms away, in dwelling 79 was the family of Charles and Sarah Osmun. Charles was Ida's second cousin twice removed. His daughter Emma Osmun LaRue, lived in dwelling 80 with her husband and young son. By 1920, Earl Smith had married and begun a family of his own. Ida, Stewart and Charles lived together in Knowlton Township on the Knowlton Road. Stewart was still a farmer and Charles worked with his father on the farm as a laborer. The Albertsons owned their farm free and clear of all mortgages (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 161, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 7A, 14 January 1920). Ida and Stewart's son married some time in 1920 or 1921. He and his wife Lottie lived with Ida and Stewart. In 1930, the family lived on their farm which was located on RD 1 Delaware. Stewart and Ida owned the farm which was valued at $4,000. The family also owned a radio. Stewart and Charles worked the farm together, while Ida and Lottie kept house. Several of Ida's cousins lived near the Albertsons. Harold and Ada (Allen) Osmun were listed adjacent to the Albertsons on the census. Both of them were Ida's cousins. Harold Osmun5 (Charles Irvin Osmun4, Sarah Ann Read3, David Read2, Joseph Read1) was Ida's third cousin one removed. Ada Allen Osmun6 (Jennie Brinkruff5, Mary Catherine Read4, Samuel Cooke Read3, Aaron Read, I2, Joseph Read1) was Ida's fourth cousin (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 21-13, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 3A, 7 April 1930).
Ida May Smith and Stewart S. Albertson had 1 child. Total identified descendants equals 1.
CHILD OF IDA MAY SMITH AND STEWART S. ALBERTSON:
3401. (i.) CHARLES S. ALBERTSON7, was born 2 July 1897 in New Jersey, probably Near Delaware in Knowlton Township, Warren County and died September 1970 (Social Security Death Index). The 1910 census gives his age as 12. In that census year, he lived with his parents and his uncle Earl Smith (who was one year his senior) on his parent's farm near Delaware in Knowlton Township. Charles and his Uncle Earl attended school together (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 133, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 4B, 28 April 1910). Charles was still at home in 1920. His Uncle Earl had married and moved out of the house. Charles lived with his mother and father and worked on the family farm as a laborer (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 161, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 7A, 14 January 1920). Charles married in either 1920 or 1921, Lottie B. (Last Name Unknown). She was born 6 February 1897 in Pennsylvania and died April 1977 (Social Security Death Index). She may have been Lottie Bartow, the daughter of Willard and Sarah Bartow of Upper Mount Bethel, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Lottie Bartow was born February 1897 and appears on the 1900 census with her parents on their farm in Upper Mount Bethel (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 142, Upper Mount Bethel, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, sheet 17A, 17 June 1900). In 1930, Charles and Lottie shared a home with Charles's parents on RD 1 in Delaware. Charles and his father worked the family farm together. According to the census, Stewart Albertson was the employer and Charles was a wage earner. Charles and Lottie did not have children in 1930 (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 21-13, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 3A, 7 April 1930). Charles resided in Columbia, Warren County, New Jersey at the time of his death in 1970. Lottie's social security number was issued in New Jersey in 1972. However, she was a resident of Upper Mount Bethel, Northampton County, Pennsylvania when she died in 1977 (Social Security Death Index).
