ANNA M. "Annie" McMURPHY RAUB5
3081. ANNA M. "Annie" McMURPHY RAUB5 (Sarah Martin4, Lydia Read3, John Read2, Joseph Read1) was born circa 1857 in Iowa and died between 1880 and 1885. She was an adopted daughter of Harrison and Sarah (Martin Keen) Raub. She may have been the biological daughter of L.H. and Mary Ann McMurphy. Mary Ann McMurphy died 8 May 1857, age 17 years and 22 days. She was buried in Harker Cemetery, Sweetland Township, Muscatine County (Muscatine County GenWeb). In 1860, Annie Raub is listed on the census as Anna M. McMurphy, a three year old child who was living in the Raub household (1860 United States Federal Census, Sweetland Township, Muscatine County, Iowa, page 528, 30 June 1860, P.O Melpine, Iowa). The 1870 census identifies her as Annie M. Raub, age 14. She lived with Harrison and Sarah in Sweetland Township, Muscatine County and was attending school (1870 United States Federal Census, Sweetland Township, Muscatine County, Iowa, page 304, 11 August 1870, P.O Wilton, Iowa).
Anna married on 31 August 1876, in Muscatine County, Elbridge Pace, the son of Michael Perkins Pace and Amanda Chambers (Iowa Marriages). The marriage index for Muscatine County identifies her as Annie Raub. Elbridge Pace was born 23 May 1854 and died 1931. His father was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia in 1815 and moved to Kentucky in 1819. He came to Muscatine in 1836 and married Amanda Chambers, a native of Indiana (Anon 1879:637). Elbridge's brother, Elvin Y. Pace was the father of another Amanda Pace. She married Ben Martin6 (Walter E. Martin5, Benjamin Frank Martin4Lydia Read3, John Read2, Joseph Read1), a grandson of Sarah Martin Keen Raub's brother, Benjamin Frank Raub and hence Sarah's great nephew.
Anna and Elbridge had their first child, a daughter named Myrtie in November 1879. They lived on a farm in Fulton Township, Muscatine County in 1880 (1880 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 242, Fulton Township, Muscatine County, Iowa, page 76C, 2 June 1880). Annie died between the 1880 census and late 1885. Elbridge married his second wife, Kate Shellabarger on 10 December 1885 in Muscatine County, she was the daughter of John and Mary Shellabarger (Anon 1889:239; Iowa Marriages). Elbridge died in 1931 and was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine County, Iowa (Martin-Rott n.d.; Muscatine County, GenWeb; Anon 1879:637).
3282. (i.) MYRTIE PACE6, was born November 1879 in Muscatine County, Iowa and died unknown. She appears on the 1880 census as a seven month old infant living with her parents on their farm in Fulton Township, Muscatine County (1880 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 242, Fulton Township, Muscatine County, Iowa, page 76C, 2 June 1880).
