Joseph and Dinah's third child, Azubah, was born in New York in 1837. In 1838, the family moved again, this time they settled in Delmar Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Van Horn, Michael Crissman of Cooms Co., Michigan, to Margaret Kern of Wantage, N.J." A check of James P. Snell's histories of Sussex and Warren Counties did not yield a Rev. G. Van Horn. However, Snell did discuss a Rev. R. Van Horn. This pastor's name is spelled variously as Van Horn and Vanhorne. His first name was Richard. He was married to Margaret Axford, daughter of Daniel Axford and Margaret Morgan of Warren County. Van Horn was a member of the Newark Methodist Episcopal Conference (now known as the United Methodist Church). He had several churches in Warren and Sussex Counties: Finesville M.E. Michael Crisman's place of residence in the wedding announcement was given as Michigan. He had probably gone ahead to Michigan, begun a homestead and built a house. He then returned to New Jersey to marry Margaret. After the ceremony they probably set off for Michigan. They resided in Washington Township, Macomb County, Michigan They appear on the 1870 and 1880 census as residents of the township, and are listed as such in the probate papers for Margaret's father's estate (1870 United States Federal Census, Washington Township, McComb County, Michigan, page 159, 10 August 1870; 1880 United States Federal Census, Washington Township, McComb County, Michigan, page 600C; SCSCR, Petitions of Guardianship and Renunciations, Book A, page 320). Clurr was 35 years old and had been born in Ireland. Both men possessed a personal estate valued at $1,500. 182. (iv.) AMOS HAMPTON OGDEN4, was born 28 December 1818, in Sussex (now Warren) County, New Jersey and died 30 October 1892 in Manhattan, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He settled near Manhatten in 1840 and and, with his brother Benjamin, built a saw-mill (Brown 1897). Shortly after that Amos married Hannah Furman and his brother Benjamin married Hannah's sister Nancy (Kern 1938). An 1897 history of Tioga County states that "Mrs. Hannah Ogden, a daughter of Aaron Furman, is the oldest living person born in the township. She was born in 1812" (Brown 1897). These dates jibe with census data which place Hannah's birth in 1812, and with her grave stone which gives her dates as 29 October 1812 through 28 November 1899. Amos and Hannah were early members of the the First Methodist Church of Gaines, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. It came ito being from a Methodist class organized about 1838. Early members of the class were were Mrs. Aaron Furman (mother of Hannah and Nancy), Benjamin and Eliza Furman, John Benn and his wife, Benjamin and Nancy (Furman) Ogden, Hannah (Furman) Ogden, Sally Ogden (wife of Jared Davis and sister of Amos) and Mrs. Sallie Billings. Early meetings were held at Furmantown as the parsonage was located on the Furman property (Brown 1897). In 1850 and 1860, Amos and Hannah lived on a farm in Gaines Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. The farm was valued at $2000 in 1850 (no value was given in 1860). The couple posessed a personal estate valued at $300 in 1860. Amos and Hannah appear to have only had two children, both of whom lived with them in 1850 and 1860. In 1850 Amos and Hannah lived in dwelling 12. Amos's brothers Benjamin and Joseph lived in dwelings 11 and 13 respectively. Members of the extended Furman family lived in dwelings 14, 15, 16, 19 and 22. In 1860, Amos and Hannah lived in dwelling 2030, while his brothers Jacob and Benjamin lived in dwellings 2034 and 2042, respectively (1850 United States Federal Census, Gaines Township,Tioga County, Pennsylvania, pages 257-258, 16 October 1850; 1860 United States Federal Census, Gaines Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, page 257B). Sarah probably married Charles Dewey. The 1880 census lists two grandchildren with the surname of Dewey who resided in Amos and Hannah's household in Tioga County. These children were born in Iowa between 1868 and 1870. Whether they were orphans or if their parents were living and residing elsewhere is unknown (1880 United States Federal Census, Gaines Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, page 214A). She was born circa 1827 in Pennsylvania. In 1850, Isaac and Rachel lived on a farm in Delmar Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. No land value is listed for the farm, so it is assumed that they were tenants. Isaac and Rachel lived in dwelling 53. Isaac's step-mother, Dinah France Ogden Kelsey, and her second husband, Daniel Kelsey lived in dwelling 54. Isaac's younger half brother's and sisters, Daniel, Sally and Azubah also lived in dweling 54. Daniel Kelsy is listed as the owner of the farm, which was valued at $10,000 (1850 United States Federal Census, Delmar Township,Tioga County, Pennsylvania, page 214, 31 August1850). It is possible that Isaac and Rachel were his tenants. By 1860, Isaac had purchased a farm in Gaines Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. The farm was valued at $1000. The family's personal estate was valued at $500 (1860 United States Federal Census, Gaines Township,Tioga County, Pennsylvania, page 260A). In 1880, she was employed as a housekeeper in the household of William Roosevelt (age 62) of Ackley, Hardin County, Iowa. Her daughter Clara lived with her. Other members of the Roosevelt household included William's three sons—Van (age 32), Theodore (age 23) and Clinton E. (age 15)—and daughter Lillie (age 13). Theodore was married. His wife Millie (age 20) and 2 year old son R.M. also lived in the household.
