3122. WILLIAM PERCIVAL "Percy" MARTIN6 (Walter E. Martin5, Benjamin F. Martin4, Lydia Read3, John Read2, Joseph Read1) was born 17 April 1888 in Wilton Township, Muscatine County, Iowa and died October 1970 in Iowa (Muscatine County, Iowa, GenWeb; Social Security Death Index). His parents moved to Sweetland Township, Muscatine County in 1892, when he was about four years old (Richman 1911:585). Percy appears on the 1900 census as age 12, living at home with his parents in Sweetland Township, Muscatine County and attending school with his sisters Mary and Laura and brother Joe. According to the census, he attended school six months out of the year. He was employed as a laborer on his father's farm the other six months of the year (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 110, Sweetland Township, Muscatine County, Iowa, sheet 7A, 18 June 1900). In 1910, Percy lived with his parents on their farm in Sweetland Township, Muscatine County, Iowa and worked as a farm laborer. He was no longer in school (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 117, Sweetland Township, Muscatine County, Iowa, sheet 8A, 2 May 1910). He married Eva "Pearl" Duncan, the daughter of of Fletcher Duncan and Laura Brooks. She was born 8 October 1891 in Iowa and died 14 January 1963 (Muscatine County, Iowa, GenWeb). A 1919-1920 directory lists P.W. Martin, wife Pearl and daughters Doris and Bonnie on Route 2 in Muscatine Township. Percy was a tenant farmer working 154 acres. The family had a telephone through the Independent telphone company (Wilmer Atkinson Company 1919). By 1920, Percy and Pearl had purchased their farm fom Percy's parents. In 1920, they lived with their two daughters and with Walter and Addie Martin on the Martin farm in Sweetland Township. Percy was listed as head-of household, not Walter (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 130, Sweetland Township, Muscatine County, Iowa, sheet 6A, 23 January 1920). William's final residence was Muscatine, Muscatine, Iowa (Social Security Death Index). Percy and Pearl are buried in Harker Cemetery, Muscatine County, Iowa (Muscatine County, Iowa, GenWeb).

Percy Martin and Pearl Duncan had 2 children, born betweeen 1915 and about 1916. Total identified descendants equals 2.

In 1920, Doris lived at home with her parents, Martin grandparents and sister Bonnie on the family farm in Sweetland Township, Muscatine County, Iowa (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 130, Sweetland Township, Muscatine County, Iowa, sheet 6A, 23 January 1920). Doris and her sister Bonnie graduated from Muscatine High School, class of 1935. The year book gives Doris's nickname as "Doddie" (Auroran 1935)..

3148. (ii.) BONNIE FAYE "Bobby" MARTIN7, was born circa 1918 in Muscatine County Iowa and died unknown. In 1920, Bonnie lived at home with her parents, Martin grandparents and sister Doris on the family farm in Sweetland Township, Muscatine County, Iowa (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 130, Sweetland Township, Muscatine County, Iowa, sheet 6A, 23 January 1920). Bonnie and her sister Doris graduated from Muscatine High School, class of 1935. The year book gives Bonnie's nickname as "Bobby" (Auroran 1935).
