Mary Adeline married on 30 November 1865, Jacob Dernberger, son of Frederick Dernberger and Amanda Aten. He was born 5 February 1837 in Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey and died 1912 in Oakland County, Michigan (Gentry 2002). In 1880, Jacob and Mary Adeline lived in Blairstown Township. Jacob was a farmer. The couple had three children: Estella, Amanda and Isaac Jay Dernberger (1880 United States Federal Census, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, Enumeration District 191, page 285D). Their fourth son, Aurelius was born in 19 November 1883 in Hope Township (Gentry 2002).
Between 1884 and 1900 Mary Adeline and Jacob settled in Oakland County, Michigan. They were probably there in 1887 or 1888, when their daughter Stella married Thomas F. McCauley. Mary Adeline and Jacob appear on the 1900 federal census as residents of Brandon in Oakland County. They lived in a rented house in Brandon Township. Their three oldest children were no longer living at home. Only the youngest child, 15 year old Aurelius, was still at home. Jacob was employed as a traveling salesman. Aurelius was employed as a farm laborer. He had been out of work for three months during the 1899 through 1900 census year. According to the census, Mary Adeline was the mother of four children, all of whom were living in 1900 (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 83, Brandon Township, Oakland County, Michigan, sheet 7A, 14 June 1900; Tavernier, personal communication, 2001).
By 1910, Aurelius had moved out of the house. Jacob and Mary Adeline had moved to Orion Twonship in Oakland County. They owned their own homein the village of Orion. Jacob was still employed as a commerical (or traveling) salesman. All four of the Dernbergers's chilren were still alive in 1910 (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 133, Village of Orion, Orion Township, Oakland County, Michigan, sheet 6A, 21 April 1910). Jacob died in Oakland Township two years after the census (1912). Mary Adeline lived for about another year. She died died 22 November 1913 in Oakland County. They are buried in Evergreen Cemetery. The cemetery is on the Northwest Corner of M-24 and Church Street in the North west section of downtown Lake Orion, Oakland County, Michigan (Gentry 2002).

2414. (i.) ESTELLA "Stella" DERNBERGER5, was born 1867 in Hope Township, Warren County New Jersey and died 1944 in Oakland County, Michigan (Gentry 2002). In 1880, she lived with her parents on their farm in Blairstown Township (1880 United States Federal Census, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, Enumeration District 191, page 285D). The family migrated to Michigan sometime after the birth of her youngest brother in 1884. They probably settled in Brandon Township, Oakland as Jacob and Mary Adeline Dernberger lived there in 1900, and as Stella was buried in Brandon Township (1900 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 83, Brandon Township, Oakland County, Michigan, sheet 7A, 14 June 1900; Gentry 2002) Stella married in 1887 or 1888, Thomas F. McCauley. He was born in Canada in 1859 to Irish immigant parents. Thomas had come to the United States in 1886 became a naturalized citizen in 1890. In 1910, Thomas and Stella lived in the city of Detriot, Michigan with their daugher Alta. Their daughter Verna had died before 1910. Thomas was employed as a piano salesman. The family owned their own home (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 213, 14th Ward, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 9A, 22 April 1910; Gentry 2002). By 1920, Thomas and Stella shared their home with their daughter Alta, her husband Delano Haynes and their daughter Florence. Thomas worked in an automobile factory. The family lived in the same home as in 1910 (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 429, 14th Ward, Part of District 12th district, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 16B, 4 February 1920). Thomas died 1929 in Michigan. Stella continued to live with Alta and Delano McCauley after Thomas died. In 1930, the family lived at 5130 Scoltere Avenue in Detroit, Michigan (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 82-423, Block 251, 14th Ward, Precinct 13, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 2B, 3 April 1930). Stella died in 1944 and was buried with Thomas in Seymour Lake Cemetery, Brandon Township, Oakland County, Michigan (Gentry 2002). Children of Estella Dernberger and Thomas McCauley:
3628. (i.) ALTA MAE McCAULEY6, was born 1892 in Michigan and died 21 March 1970 in Detroit, Michigan. When the 1910 census was enumerated, Alta was listed as single and as a resident of her parents's household (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 213, 14th Ward, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 9A, 22 April 1910; Gentry 2002). She married sometime in 1910, Delano Haynes in St. Leo's Catholic Church in Detroit Michigan (Gentry 2002). He was born circa 1887 in Michigan. In 1920, Alta and Delano lived with Alta's parents in Detroit. Delano was employed as a chauffer. Alta was at home with her mother doing housework and raising their daughter Florence (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 429, 14th Ward, Part of District 12th district, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 16B, 4 February 1920). Alta's father died in 1929. By 1930, Alta, Delano, their daughter Florence and Alta's mother Stella McCauley lived at 5130 Scoltere Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. Delano was employed by Illinois County (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 82-423, Block 251, 14th Ward, Precinct 13, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 2B, 3 April 1930). 3649. (i.) FLORENCE W. HAYNES7, was born 28 September 1910 in Detroit, Michigan and died 1 September 1978 in Dearborn, Wayne County, Michigan (Gentry 2002; Michiagen Death Index; Social Security Death Index). Florence appears on the 1920 census as a nine year old school girl. She lived with her parents and her maternal grandparents in Detroit (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 429, 14th Ward, Part of District 12th district, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 16B, 4 February 1920). By 1930, Florence had completed her schooling. She still lived at home with her parents and her grandmother McCauley. The family lived at 5130 Scoltere Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. Florence was employed as a piano teacher (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 82-423, Block 251, 14th Ward, Precinct 13, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 2B, 3 April 1930). Florence married after the 1930 census, Enid McClelland (Gentry 2002). He was born 28 April 1902 and died 26 September 1972 in Detroit. Both Florence and Enid's social security numbers were issued in Michigan before 1951. They resided in Detroit when Enid died in 1972. By 1978, Florence resided in Dearborn, Michigan. She died there in 1978 (Michiagen Death Index; Social Security Death Index).
3629. (ii.) VERNA McCAULEY6, was born 1896 and died before 1910. According to the 1910 census, Stella and Thomas McCauley were the parents of two chldren, one of whom had died before 1910. Their eldest daughter Alta was still alive in 1910 (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 213, 14th Ward, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 9A, 22 April 1910; Gentry 2002).
2415. (ii.) AMANDA DERNBERGER5, was born 1870 in Hope Township, Warren County New Jersey and died 1927 in Michigan (Gentry 2002). In 1880, she lived with her parents on their farm in Blairstown Township (1880 United States Federal Census, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, Enumeration District 191, page 285D). She married Willard Gilmore (Gentry 2002). Amanda is listed as next-of-kin on the World War I draft registration card for her brother Jay. He filled the registration out on 12 September 1919 and gave her name as Mrs. W. Gilmore of 1350 Wabash Avenue in Detroit (World War I draft card, serial number 1323, order number A2180). Willard Gilmore died in Shepard, Michigan. Amanda is buried in Evergreen Cemetery. The cemetery is on the Northwest Corner of M-24 and Church Street in the North west section of downtown Lake Orion, Oakland County, Michigan (Gentry 2002).

ISAAC "JAY" DERNBERGER5, was born 25 December 1875 in Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey and died 12 June 1948 in Spokane, Spokane County, Washington at the age of 72 (Washington Death Index, certificate number 10792). In 1880, he lived with his parents on their farm in Blairstown Township (1880 United States Federal Census, Blairstown Township, Warren County, New Jersey, Enumeration District 191, page 285D). His parents moved to Michigan after the birth of Jay's younger brother in 1884. By 1919, Jay had moved to Spokane, Washington. He registered for the World War I draft on 12 September 1919 in Spokane. His address on the card was given as 3703 East Fourth Avenue in Spokane. He was employed as a miner by the Charles Curtis Company of Newport, Washington. Jay listed his nearest relative Mrs. W. Gilmore (his sister Amanda) of 1350 Wabash Avenue in Detroit. According to his registration card, Jay was 44 years old, of medium height and stout build. He had brown hair and blue eyes. He did not use his first name of Isaac on the the card (World War I draft card, serial number 1323, order number A2180). He died in Spokane in 1948 at the age of 72 (Washington Death Index, certificate number 10792).
3622. (iv.) AURELIUS SWAYZE "Roy" DERNBERGER5, was born 19 November 1883 in Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey and died 23 December 1965 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. He married Anne Elizabeth McCormick on 25 July 1914 in St. Leo's Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan. He was Anne's second husband. Anne's first husband was Daniel Mills, by whom she had one child—a daughter named Mildred Mills. Anne was born 5 July 1884 in Skaneatlas, New York, the daugther of John McCormick and Elizabeth Ann Gleason. In 1930, Roy and Anne Dernberger lived in the city of Detroit at 1242 Euclid Avenue. They shared their home with their two teenage sons and Anne's 38 year old brother, Joseph H. McCormick. They owned their house, which was valued at $8,000. They also owned a radio. Roy was employed as a lineman by the electric company. Joseph McCormick worked as a refrigerator installer (1930 Unted States Federal Census, Enumeration District 82-164, Block 80, Ward 6, Precinct 19, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 6A, 7 April 1930). By the time Roy applied for his social security card, he had completely dropped Aurelius as his offical first name and was using Roy. His card was issued in Michigan before 1951 (Social Security Death Index). Anne died 22 September 1962 in Oswego, New York —which is where her daughter Mildred resided. She was buried 26 September 1962 in St. Mary's Cemetary in Fulton, Oswego County, New York (Gentry 2002). Roy resided in Farmington, Wayne County, Michigan when he died on 23 December 1965 (Social Security Death Index). He was buried with Anne in St. Mary's Cemetery on 26 December 1965 (Gentry 2002). 3630. (i.) JOHN JACOB DERNBERGER6, was born 12 December 1915 in Highland Park, Wayne County, Michigan and died unknown. He appears to have been named after both of his grandfathers—John McCormick and Jacob Dernberger. In 1930, John lived with his parents, brother Roy and Uncle Joseph McCormick at 1242 Euclid Avenue in the city of Detroit. He and Roy were both in school (1930 Unted States Federal Census, Enumeration District 82-164, Block 80, Ward 6, Precinct 19, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 6A, 7 April 1930). John married Gertrude Edith Venier on 12 July 1941 in St. Agnes Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan. She was born 17 March 1918 in River Rouge, Michigan and died 24 April 2004. Gertrude was the daughter of Harvey James Venier and Ella Fern Williamson. John and Gertrude resided in Lincoln Park, Wayne County, Michigan (Gentry 2002; Social Security Death Index). In 1930, Roy lived with his parents, brother John and Uncle Joseph McCormick at 1242 Euclid Avenue in the city of Detroit. He and John were both in school (1930 Unted States Federal Census, Enumeration District 82-164, Block 80, Ward 6, Precinct 19, Detroit City, Wayne County, Michigan, sheet 6A, 7 April 1930). He married first, in 1938, Rita Hanse. His second wife was Marion Esther Finkbeiner, who he married on 17 October 1944. Marion was born 5 September 1922 in Tuscola County, Michigan and died 8 October 1996 in Southfield, Oakland, Michigan (Gentry 2002; Michigan Death Index; Social Security Death Index). Marion was a daughter of George Finkbeiner, a German immigrant and Alice Maude Jackson. (Stevens 2003).
