JENNIE MAY HARTUNG COOK7
3409. JENNIE MAY HARTUNG7 (William Clinton Hartung6, Hulda Smith5, Elizabeth Read4, Isaac Read, III3, John Read2, Joseph Read1) was born 5 November 1904 in Rocksburg, Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey and died 19 May 1938 (Anon 2001; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001). She was probably named after her father's sister, Jennie Hartung Gibbs. In 1910, Jennie Hartung lived with her parents and three brothers on a rented farm along the River Road between Roxburg Street and Hutchinson Street in Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey. Jennie and her older brother Gilbert were in school (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 130, Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 8A, 2 May 1910).
Jennie married on 9 April 1927, Vandereof Young "Van" Cook. He was born 12 December 1902 and died 2 September 1998 (Anon 2001; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001; Social Security Death Index). Vanderelof grew up in Harmony Township. His father died when Vandereof was quite young. In 1910, he lived with his widowed mother Carrie Cook (who was 37) and his brother, 10 year old Samuel Cook, in Harmony Township. Carrie Cook was a laundress. She owned her home free and clear of mortgages (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 130, Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 1A, 15 April 1910).
In 1930, Vandereof and Jennie were renting a home for $10 a month. On the census, are listed adjacent to Vandereof's widowed mother Carrie Cook. Carrie owned property valued at $1,000. It is possible she was renting a home to her son and his wife. Vandereof Cook was a house carpenter. In 1930, he and Jennie had one child, their six month old daughter Irma Jean Cook (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 21-10, Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 8A, 16 April 1930).
Jennie and Vandereof Cook had one more child after the 1930 census. She was Loyce Marie Cook. Jennie died on 19 May 1938. Vanderof eventually remarried. His second wife was named Esther. In 1964, they lived in Harmony Township with their daughter Sue Ann (Citizens Committee 1964:27). Vanderof died 2 September 1998. He resided in Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey at the time of his death (Social Security Death Index).

3443. (i.) IRMA JEAN COOK8, was born 25 September 1929 in Rocksburg, Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey (Anon 2001; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001). Irma appears on the 1930 census as a six month old infant. She lived with her parents in a rented home in Harmony Township (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 21-10, Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 8A, 16 April 1930). Irma married on 14 June 1947, in Elkton, Cecil County, Maryland, Ethan Burd "Red" Petersen. He was born 18 February 1929 in Oxford, Oxford Township, Warren County, New Jersey (Anon 2001; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001). In 1930, Ethan lived with his mother Minnie G. Burd Petersen, his maternal grandfather Alfred Burd, his sister Marjorie R. Petersen and his great-great aunt Mary E. Cowell (age 80) in Belvidere, Warren County, New Jersey. The family rented a home at 10 Wall Street in the town of Belvidere. Ethan's mother and grandfather both worked for the local dye factory. His mother was a silk folder and his grandfather was a tool checker (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 21-3, Town of Belvidere, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 3A, 4 April 1930). 3444. (ii.) LOYCE MARIE COOK8, was born between 1930 and 1938, probably in Rocksburg, Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey (Anon 2001; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001). Loyce married Richard Johnson. In 1964, Loyce and Richard lived with their three children in Harmony Township (Citizens Committee 1964:31). Children of Loyce Cook and Richard Johnson:
