340. . IRENE DAVIS READ³ (Martin Freese Read³, Samuel Read², Joseph Read¹) was born 7 December 1843 in New Jersey and died 16 September 1928 in New Jersey. Irene may have been named after her first cousin, Irene Mark Davis⁴, the daughter of her aunt Ann Read³ (Samuel², Joseph Read¹) and uncle Mark Davis ⁴. In 1860, Irene Read was living on her parents farm in Hope Township (1860 United States Federal Census, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 8). By 1862, she had married Jehiel T. Pierson, the son of Abram S. and Caroline Pierson (1860 United States Federal Census, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 22, 9 July 1860). Jehiel was born 31 August 1837 in New Jersey and died 7 December 1893. He was a cabinet maker, as was his father. The 1860 census indicates that Jehiel was still living with his parents in Hope Township. His father was a "master cabinet maker," Jehiel was listed as a "cabinet maker" It appears that he did his apprenticeship under his father. In 1870, Jehiel and Irene lived in Hope Township, their post office was Belvidere, New Jersey. Jehiel was still a cabinet maker. They owned real estate valued at $4,000 and had a personl estate valued at $500. Two of the couple's children were living in 1870: Willie and Clarence (1870 United States Census, Hope township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 186B, 25 August 1870). The 1860 census spells the family's last name as P-E-A-R-S-O-N. The 1870 census and the family's monuments in the cemetery spell the last name as P-I-E-R-S-O-N. Jehiel and Irene are buried with their children in St. Johns of Hope Methodist Episcopal Church Yard, Hope, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey.

714. (i.) SAVILLA PIERSON⁵, was born circa 1862 in New Jersey and died 1865, aged 3 years, 4 days. She is buried in St. Johns of Hope Methodist Episcopal Church Yard, Hope, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey.

715. (ii.) WILLIAM L. "WILLIE" PIERSON⁵, was born 26 May 1866 in New Jersey and died 18 March 1881. He lived with his parents in 1870 in Hope Township (probably in the village of Hope). Willie is buried in St. Johns of Hope Methodist Episcopal Church Yard, Hope, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey.

716. (iii.) CLARENCE A. PIERSON⁵, was born 8 December 1868 in New Jersey and died 28 August 1876. He lived with his parents in 1870 in Hope Township (probably in the village of Hope). He is buried in St. Johns of Hope Methodist Episcopal Church Yard, Hope, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey.
