HARRY BROSSARD HARTUNG, Jr.⁷

3411. HARRY BROSSARD HARTUNG, Sr.⁷ (William Clinton Hartung⁶, Hulda Smith⁵, Elizabeth Read⁴, Isaac Read, III³, John Read², Joseph Read¹) was born 25 May 1909 in Rocksburg, Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey and died 7 September 1994. (Anon 2001; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001; Social Security Death Index). In 1910, Harry Hartung was an infant. He lived with his parents and siblings on a rented farm along the River Road between Roxburg Street and Hutchinson Street in Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 130, Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 8A, 2 May 1910).

Harry was listed as a "student" in the 1929 History and Directory of Warren County, New Jersey (Shampanore 1929:S16). Harry and his parents were residents of the Roxburg area. Harry married in that same year, on 30 March, Jeanette Frey, the daughter of Raymond and Florence (Hulshizer) Frey. Jeanette was born 25 December 1908 and died December 1982 (Anon 2001; Express Times, 12 December 1982; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001; Social Security Death Index). One year and one week later, on 7 April 1930, the census taker visited Harry and Jeannette at their home in Harmony Township. They lived in a rented home, which was not located on a farm, although Harry worked as farm laborer (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 21-10, Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 2B, 7 April 1930).

Harry and Jeannette were expecting their first daughter, Roberta, when the 1930 census was enumerated. She was born seven months later in November. Roberta was followed by Jacqueline, Harry, William Clinton, and Earl. Roberta died in November 1944 just after her 14th birthday. According to a notation in her grandfather Clinton Hartung's bible, she died at home at 3 o'clock on the afternoon of November 19th after a short illness—he did not elaborate upon the illness (Anon 2001; Long Island 2005; Longborough 2001). By 1964, Harry and Jeannette had left Harmony Township as had all their surviving chidren, with the exception of Earl. Earl was married to Betty Ehasz and had one child, a son named David. Earl's family is listed in the 150th anniversary directory of Harmony Township (Citizen's Committee 1964:29). Harry and Jeannette settled in the vicinity of Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey. Jeannette died there in December 1982. According to her obituary she was survived by Harry; her daughter Jaqueline Enright; her sons Harry Jr., William and Earl Hartung; her brothers Thomas and Malcolm Frey and her sister Winifred Frey Hoffman. She also had 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren (Express Times, 12 December 1982). Harry was still living in the Phillipsburg area at the time of his death in 1994 (Phone Book; Social Security Death Index).

3447. (i.) ROBERTA LOUISE HARTUNG⁸, was born 4 November 1930, probably in Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey and died 19 November 1944. A memorandum in her grandfather William Clinton Hartung's bible states: "Roberta L. Hartung, d. Nov. 19, 1944 at 3 p.m. at her home after a short illness. Burial at Belvidere. Harry's oldest daughter" (Anon 2001; Express Times, 12 December 1982; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001).

3448. (ii.) JAQUELINE RAE HARTUNG⁸, married Richard Enright. She was listed as a survivor in the 1982 obituary of her mother (Anon 2001; Express Times, 12 December 1982; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001). Children of Jaqueline Hartung and Richard Enright:

3451. (v.) EARL DAVID HARTUNG⁸, married Elizabeth Myers "Betty" Ehasz (Anon 2001; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001). In 1964, Earl and Betty lived in Harmony Township, Warren County, New Jersey with their son David (Citizens Committee 1964:29). They resided in Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey in the 1990s (phone book). Earl was listed as a survivor in his mother's 1982 obituary (Anon 2001; Express Times, 12 December 1982; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001). Children of William Hartung and Myra Stryker:
