RAMON JAY HARTUNG⁷

3418. RAMON JAY HARTUNG⁷ (Charles Gwinnup Hartung⁶, Hulda Smith⁵, Elizabeth Read⁴, Isaac Read, III³, John Read², Joseph Read¹) was born 9 August 1915 in Warren County, New Jersey and died 7 March 1992, probably in Erie County, New York (Anon 2001; Long Island 2005; Loughborough 2001; Ramseyburg Cemetery; Social Security Death Index, under R.J. Hartung). Ramon grew up in Hope Township. In 1920, he lived with his parents and his younger sister Ruth on a rented farm in Hope Township. He had not yet started to attend school (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 159, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 10B). By 1930, Ramon had left his parents's home and had moved in with his maternal grandparents, Clinton and Rebecca (Smith) Swayze. His great-grandmother, Rachel A. Smith also lived in the same household. Ramon was 14 years old when the 1930 census was taken. He worked part time in a grocery store and attended school. His grandfather, Clinton Swayze managed a feed store (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 21-13, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 1B, 4 April 1930). In the 1940s, during World War II, Ramon was a Lt. Commander in the United States Navy. He married Elizabeth Jeane Bleumle. They had two children, Janice and John Hartung. Ramon died on 7 March 1992. He resided in Clarence, Erie County, New York at the time of his death (Social Security Death Index). Ramon is buried in Ramseyburg Cemetery, Delaware, Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey. His grave was visited on 15 April 2005.
