AZUBAH VAUGHN TEETER3
34. AZUBAH VAUGHN3, (Hannah Read2, Joseph1), was born 6 May 1801, in Sussex (now Warren) County, New Jersey; died August 1858, in McLean, Tompkins County, New York (Kern 1938). She married Henry Teeter. He was born circa 1796, in Sussex County, New Jersey and died 1880, in Tompkins Couty, New York. They are buried in Peruville Cemetery, Groton, Tompkins County, New York. The couple probably settled in the Town of Groten, Tompkins County, New York after the birth of their daughter Catherine. She was born in New Jersey on 16 April 1826. They were in Groton by 13 March 1827. Their son Isaac died in Groton on that date. By 1850, Henry and Azubah lived on a farm in the Town of Groton. The farm was valued at $2200. Their four youngest surviving children lived with them (i.e. Hannah, Elizabeth, William and Azubah). Henry and Azubah lived in dwelling 504. Their daughter Catherine Allen lived in dwelling 505. Daughter Caroline Ellis lived in dwelling 499. Their son Abram lived with his family in Groton in dwelling 574 (United States Federal Census, Tompkins County, New York, 1850, page153, 157-158, 29 and 31 August 1850).

He is buried in Peruville Cemetery, the Town of Groton, Tompkins County, New York.
200. (ii.) ABRAM TEETER4, was born 6 September 1820, in New Jersey and died 1894 Tompkins County, New York, age 74 years. He married Matilda Shaw. She was born in circa 1824 in New York and died 1889, age 65 years. In 1850, Abram (given as Abraham in the census) and Matilda lived on a farm in the Town of Groton, Tompkins County, New York. Their farm was valued at $1500. Two of their children lived with them, their son Henry and their daughter Frances (Addie). In 1870, Abram and Matilda lived with their daughter Elizabeth on their farm in the Town of Groton. THeir post office was Groton, New York. They owned real estate valued at $4,000 and a personal estate valued at $3,500 (1870 United States Federal Census, Town of Groton, Tompkins County, New York, page 172, 30-31 August 1870). In 1850, she resided with her parents on their farm in the Town of Groton, Tompkins County, New York (1850 United States Federal Census, Town of Gorton, Tompkins County, New York, page 157, 31 August 1850). She is buried in Peruville Cemetery, Groton, Tompkins County, New York.
2810. (iv.) ELIZABETH TEETER5, was born circa 1852 in Tompkins County, New York and died unknown. She lived with her parents in 1870 on their farm in the Town of Groton, Tompkins County (1870 United States Federal Census, Town of Groton, Tompkins County, New York, page 172, 30-31 August 1870).
201. (iii.) CAROLINE M. TEETER4, was born 21 August 1823, in New Jersey and died unknown. She married before 1850, William M. Ellis. He was born circa 1823 in Tompkins County, New York. William was employed as a cabinet maker. In 1850, he and Caroline lived in the Town of Gorton, Tompkins County. They owned their home, which was valued at $550. The Ellis family lived in dwelling 499, Caroline's parents lived in dwelling 504 and her sister Catherine Allen lived in dwelling 505 (1850 United States Federal Census, Town of Gorton, Tompkins County, New York, page 153, 29 August 1850). In 1870, the couple still reside in the town of Groton. William was a wagon maker. The couple owned real estate valued at $950 and a personal estate valued at $2,023. None of the couple's children resided in the household in 1870 (1870 United States Federal Census, Town of Groton, Tompkins County, New York, page 151, 11-12 September 1870). 202. (iv.) ISAAC TEETER4, was born 17 September 1824 in New Jersey and died 13 March 1827, in the Town of Groton, Tompkins County, New York, age 2 years. He is buried in Peruville Cemetery, the Town of Groton, Tompkins County, New York.
203. (v.) CATHERINE TEETER4, was born 16 April 1826, in New Jersey and died unknown. She married by 1850, David Allen. He was born circa 1826 in Cayuga County, New York. The couple owned a home in the Town of Groton, New York. David was employed as a mason. The couple lived in dwelling 505. Catherine's parents were in dwelling 504 and her sister Caroline Ellis was in dwelling 499. The couple did not have children in 1850 (1850 United States Federal Census, Town of Gorton, Tompkins County, New York, page 153, 29 August 1850). In 1870, Catherine and David still resided in Groton. David was employed as a stone mason, as was his 19 year old son Ira. Fifteen year Emerson Mack also lived with the family. He was a farm laborer. David and Catherine owned real estae valued at $4,900 and a personal estate valued at $820 (1870 United States Federal Census, Town of Groton, Tompkins County, New York, page 174, 2 September 1870).

In 1850, she lived with her parents on their farm in the town of Gorton (1850 United States Federal Census, Town of Gorton, Tompkins County, New York, page 153, 29 August 1850). An unidentified individual in the Teeter plot in Peruville Cemetery is "Libbie Teeter", died 1899, age 72 years. She may be Elizabeth Teeter, although Elizabeth was born circa 1832 and Libbie was born circa 1827.
207. (ix.) WILLIAM VAUGHN TEETER4, was born 12 May 1834, Groton, Tompkins County, New York and died unknown. In 1850, he lived with his parents on their farm in the town of Gorton and attended school (1850 United States Federal Census, Town of Gorton, Tompkins County, New York, page 153, 29 August 1850). He married Martha (Last Name Unknown). She was born circa 1843 in New York and died unknown. In 1870, the couple lived in the Town of Groton. William was employed as a stone mason. He owned real estate valued at $1,500 and a personal estate valued at $1,500. Martha Teeter owned an estate valued at $125 (1870 United States Federal Census, Town of Groton, Tompkins County, New York, page 131, 11-12 September 1870). Child of William and Martha Teeter:

208. (x.) AZUBAH AMELIA TEETER4, was born 10 December 1836, Groton, Tompkins County, New York and died unknown. In 1850, she lived with her parents on their farm in the town of Gorton and attended school (1850 United States Federal Census, Town of Gorton, Tompkins County, New York, page 153, 29 August 1850).
209. (xi.) HENRY B. TEETER4, was born 9 January 1839, Groton, Tompkins County, New York and probably died before 1850. He does not appear as a resident of Henry and Azubah Teeter's houshold in 1850 (1850 United States Federal Census, Town of Gorton, Tompkins County, New York, page 153, 29 August 1850).
Kern (1938) only lists five of the children of Henry and Azubah Teeter: Abram, Hannah, Elizabeth, Helen married to Eugene Hart of Dryden and another daughter married to an Ellis. The daughter married to the Ellis was Caroline Teeter. Who Helen Teeter was is unclear. There were five girls in the family: Caroline Ellis, Catherine Allen (not named by Kern), Hannah Teeter, Elizabeth Teeter, and Azubah. Kern found the five individuals listed above in an 1865 affidavit given to the Warren County court by Richard Read (son of Isaac Read, Sr.), Azubah Vaughn Teeter's first cousin.
