Will of Joseph Newman decd

In the name of God Amen! I Joseph Newman Sen of the Township of Hardwick in the county of Warren and State of New Jersey being weak in body but of sound mind memory and understanding for which blessing I most devoutly thank my God do make and publish this my last will and testement in manner and form following that is to say : first it is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid and satified as soon as convienently can be after my decease. Item I give and bequeath to the use of my beloved wife Eleanor Newman the house and lot whereon I now live, also all my household and Kitchen furniture, or if she should see proper to live elsewhere she is to have one sett chairs one feather bed and bedding corner cupboard linan and one cow during her natural life. Item I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Leah N. Cool wife of Abraham Cool all my property both real and personal by paying out legacies to the amount of one thousand dollars to be paid five years after the decease of my wife Eleanor and fulfilling what I shall hereafter order in this my last will and testament. Item I order that my wife Eleanor to farm and kept on the farm one cow winter and summer, also to be found plow meal and other necessaries from the products of the farm sufficient to support her, also to have wood cut and hauled to the door sufficient to support one fire during her natural life. Item I do order that my daughter Rebecca Lewis so supported and taken care of during her natural life from the produce of the farm. I do give and bequeath to my grand son Levi Newman fifty dollars to be paid five years after the deced of my wife. Item I do order that five years after the decease of my wife that the interest of nine hundred and fifty dollars to be paid yearly and every year to my son Joseph Newman during his natural life and if my son Joseph Newman should become helpless or in need of a postance to support him he is to have such as my executor executor thinks he needs which is to be deducted from the Alin nine hundred and fifty dollars. Item after the decease of my son Joseph Newman the residue of the nine hundred and fifty dollars be equally divided among his children share and share alike. Lastly I hereby appoint Abm Cool and Abm H. Cook executors of his my last will and testement.

Proof to Will Wills Book 2, page 318

Warren County} William H. Cooke a sitness to the within will being duly sorn did depose and say that he saw Joseph Newman the testator therein as named sign and seal the same; and heard him publish promounce and declare the within writing to be his last will and testement, and that at the doing thereof the said testator was of sound and disposing mind and memory as far as the deponent knows and as he verily believes; and that Abraham M. Thiet and Aaron H Cooke the other witnefes to the said will together with deponant in the presenceof the testator.

Warren County} Abraham Cool one of the executors in the within testement named being duly sworn (the other executor having renounced the executorship of the same did depose and say that the within instrument contained within last will and testement of Joseph Newman the testator therein named as far as he knows and as he verily believes; that he will well and truely perform the same by paying first the debts of the daid deceased and then the legacies in the daid testement specified so fat as the goods, chattel, and credits of the said deceased can {illegible} ; and that he will makd and exhibit unto the surrogate office at Belvidere a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the foods chattels and credits of the said deceased that have or should come to his knowledge of possefion or to the pofefion of any other person or persons for his use and under a just and true account when thereunto lawfully required. State of New Jersey

Warren County} I JOseph Morton surrogate of the County of Warren do certify [seal] the annexed to be a true copy of the lasst will and testament of Joseph Newman late of the County of Warren deceased and that Abraham Cool the executor therein named deposed the the same before me and is duly authorized to take upon himself the administration of the estate of the testatoe equally to the said will. Witness my hand and seal of office the fifteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight.
