MARGARET "MAGGIE" REED SNYDER6
927. MARGARET "MAGGIE" REED6 (Johnson Howell Reed5, Issac Read/Reed IV4, Richard Read3, Isaac Read, Sr.2, Joseph Read1), was born circa 1867 in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, possibly in Kinston township (1870 United States Federal Census, Kingston Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, page 91B) and died after 1930, possibly in Florida (1930 United Staets Federal Census, Enumeration District 64-6, Deland City, Ward 2, Precinct 5, Volusia County, Florida, sheet 1A). She married circa 1886, Allen Snyder. Allen was born circa 1866 in Pennsylvania and died after 1930, possibly in Florida (1910 United States Federal Census, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, ennumeration district 10, Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, sheet 6A, 18 April 1910; 1930 United Staets Federal Census, Enumeration District 64-6, Deland City, Ward 2, Precinct 5, Volusia County, Florida, sheet 1A; Will of J.H. Reed, Luzerne County Office of Wills, Book 38, page 236). Allen's father was a German immigrant. His mother was from New Jersey. In 1910, Maggie and Allen resided in a rented home loacted at 262 Iron Street in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania. According to the census, Maggie was the mother of two children, both of whom were living in 1910. Neither child lived with Allen and Maggie. Allen owned a grocery store in Bloomsburg (1910 United States Federal Census, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, ennumeration district 10, Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, sheer 6A, 18 April 1910; Will of J.H. Reed). By 1920, Maggie and Allen had left Pennsylvania and settled in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. Allen was employed as a lumber cherker for a lumber company. The couple rented their home in Jacksonville. Neither of their children lived with them in 1920 (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 42, City of Jacksonville, 1st, Duval County, Florida, 14 January 1920, sheet 19A). Maggie and Allen still resided in Florida in 1930, but they had moved to Deland, Florida and lived near Maggie's younger sister Lulu Ace and her husaband Corey. The two couples were employed as in the hotel industry. Lulu was a hotel manager, Maggie and Allen were clerks. It is possible that they all ran a hotel together, although they do not seem to have owned the hotel (1930 United Staets Federal Census, Enumeration District 64-6, Deland City, Ward 2, Precinct 5, Volusia County, Florida, sheet 1A).
