(i.) LEROY POST "ROY" READ⁷, was born 13 July 1899 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and died 21 June 1989 of a heart attack. He married Catherine Mary Middleton, on 28 November 1928. She was the daughter of Dennis James Middleton and Mary Catherine "Kate" Delaney. Catherine was born 28 July 1904 in Lee Park, Hanover Township, Pennsylvania and died 14 April 1967 of cancer in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. She was a 1922 graduate of Hanover High School, Hanover Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. She attended Stroudesburg and Bloomsburg Normal Schools. Roy was an employee of Williams Bakery in Wiles-Barre and Catherine taught second grade. They are buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Lee Park, Hanover Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Children of Roy and Catherine Read:

CATHERINE ELIZABETH "KAY" READ⁸, was born 5 January 1931, 53 Wyoming Street, Lee Park, Hanover Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and died 31 January 1999 in Staten Island, New York of cancer. She was a 1948 graduate of Hanover High School and a 1952 graduate of Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre. She married William Edward "Bill" Thompson. Kay and Bill did not have children. Kay was an employee and officer of Citibank in New York City.

(b.) ROBERT LEROY "BOB" READ⁸ was born 22 February 1933, 53 Wyoming Street, Lee Park and died 5 April 1986 University Hospital, Baltimore City, Maryland of a heart attack. He was a 1950 graduate of Hanover High School; a 1954 graduate of Maryville College, Maryville, Tennessee; a 1956 graduate of Western Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and a 1981 graduate of McCormick Theological Seminary (D.Min), Chicago, Illinois. He married Alice Janet Gaines, daughter of George Barrett Gaines and Jeannette Alice Pickett. She was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary, Forty Fort, Pennsylvania. Bob was a Presbyterian Minister. Children of Bob and Alice Read:

(i.) ESTHER READ⁹, was a graduate of Western High School, Baltimore, Maryland; of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (BA); and of University of Maryland College Park (MAA). She married Timothy John "Tim" Doyle, son of Gerald Francis Doyle and Margaret Ann Cunningham. Children of Esther Read and Tim Doyle:

(a.) DAVID ANDREW DOYLE¹⁰, was born and died 9 March 1991 in Columbia, Howard County, Maryland.

(b.) ROBERT READ "BOBBY" DOYLE¹⁰.

(c.) BRIDGET AILEEN DOYLE¹⁰.

(ii.) MARTHA READ⁹, was a graduate of Western High School, Baltimore, Maryland; The American University, Washington, D.C. (BS); and Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts (MS). She married Michael Alan Gray. Child of Martha Read and Michael Gray:

(a.) JACOB RANGELEY READ¹⁰.

The photograph on the right was taken when I was 6 and Martha was 3. We were living in East Brady, Clarion County, Pennyslvania at the time. The photograph was taken in Butler, PA. I remember coming off the top of a sliding board a few days before the picture was taken...I was pushed by an FBI agent, he was 7 at the time! I still have a thin white scar on my chin from the incident. I remember that this photo was the first time I wore makeup, mom put some on to cover the rest of the bruises from the sliding board pushing incident.

(ii.) JUANITA POST READ⁷, was born 20 September 1902 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and died July 1976 in Virginia. She married John George Stanley, on 2 October 1928. John was born 30 December 1903 and died February 1976 in Virginia. Children of John and Juanita Stanley:

(iii.) MADELINE FLORENCE READ⁷, was born 6 June 1905 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and died 10 July 1980 in Tuckahoe, Westchester County, New York. She married Tobias "Ted" Ginsberg, on 3 November 1950. Ted was born 15 September 1902. Madeline and Ted did not have children.

(iv.) NATALIE MAE READ⁷, was born 18 June 1906 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and died August 1981 in Fair Oaks, Sacramento County, California. She married Otto George Schantz, on 7 December 1935. Otto was born 15 September 1902 and died October 1955. Otto and Natalie resided in Wilkes-Barre. In 1971, Natalie moved to California. Otto and Natalie are buried in Laurel Cemetery, White Haven, Pennsylvania. Children of Otto and Natalie Schantz:

(a.) BEVERLY MAE "BEV" SHANTZ⁸, married William Brown. Children of William and Bev Brown:

(v.) JAY ARTHUR READ⁷, was born 24 November 1908 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and died February 1972 in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. He married Jean Griffen. She was born 2 July 1921. Child of Jay and Jean Read:

(vi.) ALBERTA READ⁷, was born 5 July 1910 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and died 23 July 1911 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. She is buried in Dodson Slope Cemetery, Huntington Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
