Richard Cooke was a a native of Frelinghuysen Township. He graduated from the University of New York and set up practice as a physican in Hope. However, according to James P. Snell's 1881
History of Warren County, Cooke soon gave up this practice and returned to New York City where he set up a dental practice. He married Sarah Freese of Hope. Sarah's sister Huldah Freese is buried in the plot to the left of the Cooke monument (see photograph below). Click on images to enlarge them.
