ELSY "MARIA" COURSEN VAN CAMP3
(i.) ELSY "MARIA" COURSEN, was born 29 April 1818 in New Jersey and died 20 September 1885 (Murcko; Reuther n.d.). She married between 1840 and 1843 James Vorhees Van Camp. He was born 21 February 1819 in New Jersey and died 26 February 1900. In 1850, Elsy and James lived in Frelinghuysen township. They were listed adjacent to Elsy's step-mother, Hannah Coursen. Her father, Jacob Coursen had died two years prior to the census. James Van Camp was a famer. He owned real estate valued at $1,200. The couple had three daughters (Emma, Nancy and Mary (1850 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 484, 27 & 29 July 1850).

(i.) INFANT SON VAN CAMP, was born and died in 1843. He is buried in Marksboro Presbyterian Church Yard, Marksboro, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey (Reuther n.d.).
(ii.) EMMA E. VAN CAMP, was born circa 1845 in New Jersey, probably in Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County and died unknown. In 1850, she lived at home with her parents on their farm in Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County and attended school (1850 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 484, 27 & 29 July 1850). She was fifteen years old in 1860 and was still attending school. Emma's family lived on the same farm in Frelinghuysen Township (1860 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 210, 18 July 1860, P.O. Johnsonburg). Emma married Lemuel Crisman.
(i.) EDWARD L. CRISMAN, married his mother's half first cousin, Emily Arvilla Coursen5 (Andrew Jackson Coursen4, Hannah Coursen nee Read3, John Read2, Joseph Read2) on 30 October 1889. Emily was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Coursen, a younger half brother of Edward's grandmother Elsy Maria Van Camp.
(iii.) NANCY J. VAN CAMP was born circa 1847 in New Jersey, probably in Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County and died unknown. In 1850, she lived at home with her parents on their farm in Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County (1850 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 484, 27 & 29 July 1850). Nancy still lived on the family farm in 1860 and she attended school (1860 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 210, 18 July 1860, P.O. Johnsonburg). She married on 23 August 1877, Nathan Hampton Kerr5 (Isaac R. Kerr4, Phebe Kerr nee Read3, Isaac Read, Sr.2, Joseph Read1). He was the son of Isaac Read Kerr and Sarah Elizabeth Hazen. Nathan's grandfather, Ira Kerr, was the step-brother of Nancy's grandfather Jacob L. Coursen. Nathan was born 29 October 1852, possibly in Kerr's Corner, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey and died unknown (Metzler n.d.; McCord 2000). Nathan's third cousin, Emily Arvilla Coursen was married to Nancy's nephew, Edward L. Crisman.
(iv.) MARY E. VAN CAMP, was born June 1849 in New Jersey, probably in Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County and died unknown. She appears on the 1850 census as an eleven month old infant living with her parents on their farm in Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County and attended school (1850 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 484, 27 & 29 July 1850). Nancy still lived on the family farm in 1860 and she attended school (1860 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 210, 18 July 1860, P.O. Johnsonburg). She married Frederick Vought.
(v.) JACOB FLAVEL VAN CAMP, was born February 1851 probably in Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County New Jersey and died 3 March 1852, age 1 year and 17 days. He is buried in Marksboro Presbyterian Church Yard, Marksboro, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey (Reuther n.d.).
(vi.) CALVIN JAMES VAN CAMP, was born 21 November 1852 probably in Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County New Jersey and died 22 January 1855, age 2 years, 2 months and 1 day. He is buried in Marksboro Presbyterian Church Yard, Marksboro, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey (Reuther n.d.).
(vii.) JOHN N. VAN CAMP, was born 1854 probably in Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County New Jersey and died 1907. In 1860, he lived with his parents on their farm in Frelinghuysen township. He had not yet started to attend school (1860 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 210, 18 July 1860, P.O. Johnsonburg). He married Emma Lewis.
