JOHNSONBURG METHODIST EPISCOPAL CEMETERY

Johnsonburg Cemetery is located on Greendall Road at the intersection of New Jersey Route 519, on the north end of the village of Johnsonburg, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey. It was the cemetery associated with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Johnsonburg (now the United Methodist Church). This is not a complete transcription of the cemetery. It is instead a selection of the stones within the cemetery, which were collected in June 1997. There are 13 head stones, 2 foot stones, and one family stone included in the transcription, which represent 16 individuals. Guick, Elizabeth P., see Eliza P. Kerr. Maiden name is not given on the stone.

Harden, Mother and Father, (single stone). Samuel Harden, born Feb. 25 1813, died Oct. 9, 1887 (single stone, with footstone "S.H."). Clarissa A., wife of Samuel A. Harden, born Jan. 7 1823 died Jan 30 1881 (single stone).

Kerr, Eliza P. 1871-1924. She was born Elizabeth P. Gulick and married William Stitt Kerr. She is buried with William and her daughter Grace Kerr.

Kerr, Grace C. 1907- . She was was the only child of Elizabeth P. Gulick and William Stitt Kerr. According to the Social Security Death Index, Grace died in Florida on 18 July 1996. Her stone is in her parents's plot.

Kerr, William S. 1871-1955. William Stitt Kerr was the son of Isaac Read Kerr and Sarah Elizabeth Hazen. He married Elizabeth P. Gulick (she was known as Eliza). He is buried with Eliza and his daughter Grace.

Luse, Aaron N, 1844-1922; M. Irene Luse 1852-1922.

Mitchell, Catherine, see Thomas Mitchell.

Mitchell, Hannah A., wife of Ervin Beck 1873 - 1936. Footstone with the grave marked "Daughter." Hannah was the second wife of James "Ervin" Beck. They married circa 1905. Ervin was the son of John and Anna (Ervine) Beck. He was born 15 July 1853 and died 5 July 1917. He is buried in Haminesburg Cemetery with his first wife, Sarah A. Emery (1855 - 1903). Hannah Mitchell Beck is buried with her parents—Thomas and Catherine Mitchell.

Mitchell, Thomas, 1824 - 1903; Catherine, his wife, 1834 - 1904. They are buried in the same plot with their daughter Hannah Mitchell Beck.

Slockbower, A. Watson, May 27, 1843 - Jan 29, 1914; His wife, M. Alice Wilson, July 2, 1850 - Dec. 14, 1882.

Willson, Ora. 1877-1943. She is buried with her mother Phoebe A. Willson.

Willson, Phoebe A. 1850-1918. She is buried with her daughter Ora.

Wilson, M. Alice, see A. Watson Slockbower .

Wilson, John Abner, died December 29, 1872, aged 36 years, 7(?) months & 24 days [poem illegible]. New Jersey flag by the grave. Buried near Jonathan Wilson.

Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, died February 21 1876 aged 30 years. Harmony Lodge No. 23. GAR flag by the grave. Buried near John Abner Wilson.
