GEORGE TITMAN PHOTO ALBUM
George Titman was the son of Ludwig and Mary Titman. He was born 1726 in Germany and came with his parents to the American colonies in about 1737. His parents had several children, the names of four are known: George, Philip, John and Christina—who in about 1780 married the Rev. Ludwig Chitara. Ludwig Chitara was the pastor of the German Reformed congregations at Knowlton (later Knowlton Presbyterian) and Newton. George was the eldest surviving child. He married Elizabeth Chitara (or Childery) and lived on the original family homestead at the base of the Blue mountains. George died on 19 June 1792. He and Elizabeth had at least two sons—George (born 1750) and Baltis (who is buried next to his parents in Stillwater Cemetery)—and a daughter named Elizabeth who married John Lemon. To the right is a photograph of George's head stone. Below is a photograph of the footstone.
