READ FAMILY CONNECTIONS

UNION CEMETERY

Union Cemetery is located on New Jersey Route 519 between the villages of Hope (to the west) and Johnsonburg (to the east). According to Snell's 1881 History of Warren County, this cemetery was associated with Union Methodist Episcopal Church. The church no longer stands on the grounds, but the grave yard is still there. It is located on land donated by Levi Howell and John Albertson. Many members of the Howell family are buried here. This is not a complete transcription of the cemetery. It is instead a selection of the stones within the cemetery, which were collected on 26 September 2005. There are 15 stones included in the transcription, which represent 18 individuals. The photograph to the left is an overview of the cemetery facing to the south. Route 519 is behind me. The newer part of the cemetery is adjacent to Route 519, while the older part is in the rear of the cemetery. Interstate 80 runs along the southern edge of the cemetery. The photograph was taken on 26 September 2005 by Esther Doyle Read. Click on the photograph and then on the icon on the following page to enlarge the image.
