Freeman, Henry, Born May 8, 1790, Died Mar. 23, 1872. Henry Freeman was married to Lydia Kerr, the daughter of William Hampton Kerr and Mary "Polly" Goble.

Freeman, Lydia, Born July 22, 1796, Died Mar. 4, 1866. Lydia Freeman was the daughter of William Hampton Kerr and Mary "Polly" Goble. She was a sister to Ira Kerr, who married Phebe Read. Two of Ira's children are buried in Union brick. Her step-brother was Jacob L. Coursen, who married Phebe Read's first cousin Hannah Read (Lydia's mother's second husband was Isaac Coursen).

Freese, Cecilia M., see Isaac Freese.

Freese, Isaac The photograph is an overview of the monument on the plot of the family of Isaac and Hannah Freese. Hannah Freese Read was the next to the youngest daughter of Isaac Read, Sr. and Mary Shackleton. The Freese plot is located on the highest point in the cemetery and is surrounded by the graves of Hannah's extended Read family. In this photograph, the graves of her Uncle Joseph Read and his wife Mary Kirkpatrick and son Joseph are visible in front of the Freese monument. The Freese monument is inside a fenced area. There was once a cross on top of the monument, but it is now on the ground (it is leaning on the base of the left side of the monument in the photograph). The names of the family are listed along four sides of the monument as follow: Isaac and Hannah, side one; Roderick, Peter, and Isaac, side two; Phebe and Cecilia, side three; and Theodore, side four (photo 9-26-05).

Freese, Isaac born Aug 7 1795, died Feb 15 1873; Hannah, his wife, born Aug 26 1800, died Apr 10 1875. Isaac was a son of Peter Freis and Cecilia Raub. Hannah was a daughter of Isaac Read, Sr. and Mary Shackleton. They were married in 1819. In the 1850s they resided in Illinois with their sons Theodore and Jacob, but appear to have returned to the New Jersey area. They had nine children—at least five of those children died young and are listed on the monument. Two of the sons, Jacob R. and Theodore, grew to adulthood. Jacob was a physican and an advisor to Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War. He is probably buried in Trenton, New Jersey (transcript 6-25-83; photo 11-22-04).

Freese sons, Roderick B. our son, born Feb 2, 1829, died March 3, 1831; Peter T., born Jan 11, 1820, died Apr 13, 1829; Isaac R., born Sept 15 1823, died Dec 30, 1823. Three of the six known sons of Isaac and Hannah (Read) Freese. Peter and Isaac were probably named after their paternal and maternal grandfathers respectively. The known sons were: Peter, Isaac, Jacob, Roderick, Theodore and Marshall. The latter's place in the birth order is unknown (transcript 6-25-83; photo 11-22-04).

Freese daughters, Phebe A. our daughter, born July 2, 1835, died May 25 1837; Cecilia M., born Nov 6, 1823, died Dec 6 1824. Two of the three known daughters of Isaac and Hannah (Read) Freese. Cecilia was probably named after her paternal grandmother. The known daughters were: Cecilia, Phebe and Hannah The latter's place in the birth order is unknown (transcript 6-25-83; photo 11-22-04).

Freese Theodore W., born Sept 27. 1840 died Aug 7, 1891. Theodore was probably the youngest son of Isaac and Hannah (Read) Freese. He moved to Illinois with his parents in the 1850s and then returned to the east. He married Minna (last name unknown), by whom he had three children. He was a successful banker in New York, but unfortunately appears to have become an alcoholic by the time he was in his late 40s. He and Minna split and Theodore returned to Warren County to try to put his life back together. He was murdered in his fields near Hope on 7 August 1891 (transcript 6-25-83; photo 11-22-04).

He was a Methodist Minister, although he had been named after the Summerbell brothers who were ministers in the Protestant denomination known as the Christians. Euphemia's grandparents had been charter memebers of the Christian Church in Johnsonburg and the Rev. Benjamin Summerbell was married to Euphemia's second cousin Elizabeth Martin. Theodore and Julia had five children, at least two died as young children and a third (Paul) died as a young man. Their other sons, Austin and Martin Luther appear to have grown to adulthood.
