Alright, here's an answer to Susan's challenge (and with a nod towards
Apache to thank her for originating the line): to put 'It was a dark
and stormy rat' in a story.  Well it's sort of a story, anyway.

They are not mine I am just borrowing them for a little while.

          It was a dark and stormy rat.

Natalie blinked as she looked at the words she had just
typed.  'I must be losing it', she thought as she backspaced
and changed rat to night.

          It was a dark and stormy night.

"That's bad, real bad," she muttered to herself.

"What did you say?" Nick asked.

"Nothing.  Look, the next time you volunteer to come up with a
skit for the office Christmas party YOU WRITE IT!"
