I have been designing furniture on this Web site for more than a decade now. We have certainly done some good for many people with stress and physical challenges. This has been great fun, but the time has now come for me to work seriously on developing Woodware Designs into a retirement income source. I will continue to provide designs and designs services free to people with physical challenges for as long as I can afford to keep this site open, but time goes on and I must develop customers for the other services I offer.

I will design custom low-stress computer furniture and other speciality items to your specific needs. You need only answer a few questions on what you need. I then develop plans and construction notes to suit your needs and budget.

If you live in the Baltimore area, I can build custom furniture of my design for you.
Right now I am particularly interested in building my Standup Bauhaus Computer Desk. If you are in my area and interested, I can give you a very good price on this work.
Unfortunately shipping large pieces long distances has not worked out.
If you live in the Baltimore area, I can build repair and refinish pieces of furniture. This usually means making repairs to the woodwork, regluing the joints, and refinishing. Sometimes I can even hand carve replacement pieces.
I do not do antiques as this requires special restoration processes for which I do not have the tools.
I have 30 years experience hand carving signs and panels for furniture. Plaques are often used as gifts, for company logos, for team building on projects, and for presentations. These plaque have proved particularly successful on projects with the Japanese, who value such work highly.
Hand carved signs are also often used for shops and hobbies, particularly those about handcrafts or the code for signs requires an authentic look. These areas include quilt making, civil war reenactments, Renaissance fair booths, observatories, and nature preserves.
Inside the Baltimore area, I can make hand carved furniture, large signs, and fittings for boats.
Outside the Baltimore area, I am limited to moderate sized plaques that can be sent by mail or package express.
I write essays on the future of technology and the human race. My speciality is building buy-in for action to address the problems of the 21st century.
Our 21st century has many great problems, population, energy, climate, etc. We can solve these problems by getting a great number of people in effective action. We now have the technical knowledge to do just this. We can generate the action and direction we need. We can have a positive effect on the future for ourselves, our children, and our nation.
One good example of my work that is available on line is my article on Disempowering Terrorists. I would be most happy to develop other articles on these ideas.
I also write hard science fiction short stories. These provide an exciting vision of where technology can lead us. Two examples of my work are available on line, "The Lunar Viper" and "The Dark of the Moon".
I am now working on a series of stories about what it would mean for the human race and our computer to develop into a truly symbiotic relationship. This is a particularly important idea as their power approaches our own ability to think. Welcome to the 21st century. We must not think of our computers and robots as slaves who might overthrow us, as in The Terminator, or as mindless slaves, as in Star Wars. The middle ground of symbiosis may turn out to be a difficult balancing act, but it is the only way what we and our machines can achieve our full potencial. /p>
