There were various brands mentioned. 50% of respondents take 3 mg. per night, the remainder take 0.5 to 2.5 mg. doses. 12% take sublingual preparations.

3. Why do you take it?

31% of respondents take melatonin to combat their insomnia. 23% take it to improve the quality of their sleep. 12% take it for its reputed antioxidant properties, and 12% take it for longevity. Other less frequently reasons cited are to promote lucid dreaming, to boost immune function, to prevent cancer, and to reduce pot smoking.

4. Have you noticed:

a. Increased dream activity (i.e. frequency of dreams)?

63% reported an increase in dream activity.

b. Increased vividness of dreams?

88% reported an increase in dream "vividness."

c. Increased recall of dreams after awakening?

56% reported increased dream recall after awakening.

d. Increased recall of dreams throughout the day?

31% reported increased recall throughouth the day.

5. Does melatonin seem to affect the *content* of your dreams?

50% answered yes.
