Actually, it's Hiroshi Amano
, but I've been using Hiro since I left Japan at the age of seven. I've worked as
a consultant and coordinator for Japanese television programs that are shot in the
United States since 1985. During the course of my life and work, I've travelled to
all 50 states, most of the Canadian provinces, Australia, England, Spain and Italy. Also,
Mexico, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman, but they don't really count because I only spent
one or two days there at a time.
I was born in Osaka, Japan in 1961. My hometown is Nishinomiya, and it was devastated by a major earthquake early in 1995 (it's right next to Kobe). I lived in New Jersey between 1968 and 1972, and after that I lived in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada until my graduation from high school. Scarborough is a suburb of Toronto where Mike Myers ("Wayne's World") also grew up. I went to the same high school as Paul Bernardo! I'm adding this link mostly because I can, but Bernardo was in the same class as my little sister, and I was friends with his sister! After that I attended Cornell University in the U.S.
My first real job upon graduation was with a now defunct Japanese television production company in New York City called Telejapan. I quit and became a freelancer when my wife Lesley decided to go to law school. Now I use the professional identity MILKY WAY Production Consulting & Coordination.
On December 26, my wife and I had our first child. Her name isLena Tamiko , and she is a real cutie!
