HIRO AMANO WELCOMES YOU!
You've found Milky Way Production Consulting and Coordination, which is my bilingual coordination and production management service for documentary television programs. My primary client is NHK, the public television network in Japan. NHK is a huge non-profit organization which is a leading producer of educational and documentary films. Being a freelancer, I also do a lot of work for other Japanese television networks like TV Asahi and Fuji Television.
My main interests are science and nature programming, and also films about people who live outside of my own mundane American urban/suburban experience. I've collected some images from NHK programs that I'm proud to have been associated with. Please take a look at them.

Fifteen Billion Light Years!
A program that uses NHK's revolutionary virtual soundstage. The host takes the viewer on a journey from the summit of Mauna Kea in Hawaii (home to some of the world's largest astronomical telescopes) out past our solar system, beyond the center of the Milky Way, past the Great Wall of galaxies...all the way to the farthest (and oldest) galaxy we can see today. This 75-minute special will be shown in Japan on January 2, 1996.
(Original Title: 150 Oku-nen, Ginga No Tabi)
